Anthony Bennett

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Bennett was drafted by one of the worst GMs in the history of sports, Chris Grant.

From what I gathered, Grant was very interested in trading down in that draft, but was not allowed to pursue that path.

From what I gathered, he very much tried to trade down in that draft but nobody wanted to give anything worthwhile to move up. Everybody wanted to move down that draft if they could.

That doesn't change the fact that Gilbert told him to take the guy he thought would be a star and he took Anthony Bennett. Could have taken Oladipo, Greek Freak, Noel, etc etc etc

He took Bennett. Forget the fact that he rightly wanted a trade down. He still missed horribly. And don't get me started with Dion, Karasev, Zeller.

The Nets are hoping that coach Kenny Atkinson's strong track record for developing players translates into helping Bennett turn his career around.

The Nets also reached a one-year contract agreement with veteran guard Randy Foye, a source confirmed.

Good for him...

So much of his troubles seem to come from conditioning and work ethic. Hopefully he can turn his career around. And I understand why Cleveland, or any franchise in win-now mode, isn't the place to develop Bennett.

I think we need to start paying closer attention to the Netaliers: Canadian Bacon, Joe Harris, Henry Sims, Serge Karasav... they need to sign Dion

Boston has to absolutely love having their unprotected 1st round picks. Their roster is putrid and I'd be shocked if they weren't the worst team in the league next year.

And why sign Randy Foye when he plays the same position as the 2 guys they drafted this year (LeVert and Whitehead)?

I think one of our former scouts is working them. No other way to explain this..

Btw, Karasev is playing for a Russian team now. Doubt he gets an NBA offer this yr.

Fucking Karasev. wanted Dieng or Gobert to finally draft a rim protecting center and we went with another SG

I feel like this board influenced that Karasev pick, as illiogical as that sounds. So many had a hard on for that guy....

I liked that pick at the time. However, the biggest trouble that I think we ran into was that he was very immature. Gets here, gets the money, and he no longer is focused on basketball. Chicks and party time. No father the coach to keep an eye on him and push him to keep basketball a priority.

Karasev. I was pumped for that pick. In fact, there were even rumors we were trying to trade up from 19 to make sure we got him. And when we got him at 19, I was ecstatic.

Whoops.

That was the draft to take an international player in the first round though. We just took the worst two. :chuckle:

Len, Greek Freak, Olynyk, Steven Adams, Schroder, Dieng, Gobert were all international guys that went in the first round that year.

Of course we did pick up the best international UDFA in Delly.
