2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
?

Peppers was irrelevant on offense all season. He destroyed their redzone offense when he was actually on the field. Their Peppers' packages were god awful.
I'm pretty sure what Bill is trying to say is that Peppers sitting out the Orange Bowl had an impact on Michigan's offensive game plan in the red zone and that Peppers' unwillingness to play is a point of frustration for their coaching staff and could hinder his chances of going in the first round.

The post really has nothing to do with whether or not he was productive on that side of the ball.

And what I'm saying is - if him sitting had any impact on their red zone offense, it was a positive one. So I'm not sure why their coaches would sabotage his draft stock, which is kind of a ridiculous accusation, I think.

There have been guys drafted in the first round that did a lot worse things than sitting out a bowl game.

If Peppers performs well at the combine, all will be forgiven.

With that said, if the Browns pick him, i'll be pissed.

Phil Savage on the radio right now. He said that he prefers Jonathan Allen to the Browns as opposed to Garrett. He also said that Deshaun Watson is invited to the Senior Bowl and would be on the South team, which the Browns are set to coach, should he accept his invite.

Luckily he's not our gm anymore

They'd go to their Peppers package inside the 20 which wasn't actually dreadful....left them a lot of second and third and shorts. Didn't get Peppers into endzone as much he wanted but it was still effective. Guy averaged over 6 yards per carry in their wildcat offense primarily inside the 20. By almost all measures that would be seen as effective.

Did you watch Wilton Speight clumsily feel around in the dark trying to operate inside the 20?

And the issue isn't as much about Peppers effectiveness, but rather bailing on the program 24 hours prior to kickoff. UM wasn't prepared to play that game without him...and it showed....and coaches and players were pissed.

I'd probably put more stock into what he says than I would most people on here, probably all.

Seems like Garrett is more of a projection of upside. Is he a surefire star pass rusher? If he is I want him. If the thing about him being a projection is true I'll be nervous.

I mean, there's also potential of some bias here. Phil Savage was born in Mobile, Alabama. Phil Savage went to Alabama and was a Graduate Assistant at Alabama. Phil Savage has worked for the Crimson Tide Sports Network since 2009 and is based in Alabama to this day. There's a slight chance that Savage is going with the guy he's more comfortable with and has seen more. :chuckle:

Keep in mind too that Savage has watched literally every game of Allen's career as the color analyst for Alabama radio. Of course he's going to be predisposed to like the guy he's seen grow and perform in every game over the last four years.

He also pretty much based his whole take around a bowl game

Except he didn't. Talked about his production coming out of conference. Didnt he have a bunch of his sacks this year against some no name ooc school?

This brings me back to the thing about him as a prospect, but it's more of a projection of upside due to his freakish physical attributes. Which is great and all, but would hardly make him the slamdunk megastar that everybody on this forum seems to be making him out to be.

Those numbers are grossly inflated from the Rutgers game. Arguably the worst team in FBS.

Here's his rushing game log:

Now tell me again how effective it was? They straight up wasted plays with him on offense against good teams. Even Michigan fans don't argue this. Pepcat, as they call it, was an utter failure.

Anyway, I doubt Michigan coaches are going to talk shit to NFL GMs because they missed his redzone offense against Florida State. :chuckle: And while it was fun to say he skipped the game, if that was indeed true, he put on a hell of a show to make everyone believe otherwise.
