Mass Effect: Andromeda

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's not off to a good start. I'm on the character customization and I'm about to choose the preset Ryder. So, can't customize a white guy? Preset Ryder it is, then.
Day 1 patch will fix that. I always customise my character well I let my kids choose I got purple hair Asian woman ruder with a massive scar

Who customizes their character anyways??

Chumps that's who.

I Ryder die with my pre-set Ryder

Yeah, I mean I don't care that much but isn't that kind of silly? I can't make a white guy unless I use the preset? :chuckle: Then again, this is 2017.... I had like 5 playthroughs of Mass Effect 2 and customized by Shepard each time.

Some of the dialogue is a little cheesy, but nothing I didn't see in any other Bioware game.

Really no complaints so far besides the customization gripe. Feels like Mass Effect and I'm suddenly giddy once the gameplay started. Opening is a little janky, though. Hey, they can't all open like Mass Effect 2, right?

Oh? So they already addressed that? Pretty absurd for that to have made it into the game but that's cool. I'm already just rolling with my preset Ryder but that's good to know for second and third playthrough.

I think you can change appearance in the captain cabin this year

Is this combat Mass Effect 3-ish? I can't even remember it's been so long. Not that Andromeda isn't good so far, but it's making me nostalgic for the original trilogy.

Finishing up the first mission. Pretty good, everything is so mysterious in this game, makes me want to keep playing to get answers.

Also I think the skill system is a good choice. Might discourage multiple playthroughs but it's silly to make people have to play through 4 times if they want to use all the abilities. I'm hoping there are enough big plot choices in the story to encourage me to want to play through again.

Wait, they fired some guy that was racist against white people? :chuckle: Was he responsible for being unable to make a white guy in the character creation?

Hysterical. Looks like it is being patched in but haven't seen where it's day one.

They are not amazingly original characters but they have mixed it up a little. Apart from Liam he's a douche

I dunno, the Asari seems like a carbon copy of young Liara so far.

Who Peebee? You only get one conversation with her throughout the entire trial. She's definitely not a scientist and prothean expert like Dr. T'Asoni. Don't really see the comp other than skin color so far.

She seems very young by Asari standards, you meet her while both of you are exploring ancient ruins, and she's the closest thing there is to an archaeologist/expert on Remnant technology as you have so far.

I see what you're saying.

I think we'll need more time to let these characters develop and get to know them before we judge from one conversation though. :chuckle:

I just wish Ryder was as much of a badass as Shep. His tone seems so much more uncertain. I know he's young and that's probably what the intention was though. Let's hope he progresses as a character into someone more like Alec Ryder throughout the new series.

Alec Ryder was cool.

Shame he lasted about an hour.

Ryder isn't a soldier, at least not like Shepard was, so it makes a lot more sense for him to be the way he is. People will always associate him with Shepard though.

Don't get the story complaints from the trial. I have a billion questions I can't wait to find the answers to. And from the looks of it, the trial shows almost nothing in the story department.

Those were my thoughts exactly. I'm really excited for Tuesday so I can dig deeper into this story and go looking for those answers.

They've certainly done a good job of pulling me in and peaking my interest that's for certain.

Yeah, just beat it. Confirmed, the trial shows almost no story. Even shorter than I thought it was. That said, I am enjoying it and I'll be buying it unless it's absolutely panned by reviews tomorrow.

The few impressions from people who had gotten to play further than the trial, though, implied that the game gets much, much better.

Lukewarm reviews as figured. I think people are being picky as fuck and trying to stack it up to the original games, based on my time in the trial.

This is exactly what's happening.

It's like comparing other Star Wars movies to the OT. Obviously none are going to be as good.
