Kevin Love Trade Ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think I remember these same discussions last year, during the same time, while we were rolling in the playoffs. Talking about making trades for Kyrie and Love. And I ask why? Why right now?

Not sure why there's always someone obsessed with talking about trading key players that helped us win our first title in 50 years. Especially, while the playoffs are still active, when we've yet to lose a game.

Just know that if they lose this series and Love is mediocre like he was last year, this thing will be on fire.

And I think it's worth to discuss...if this is the ONLY team he struggles against, do you trade him for lesser players? I...don't know.

I don't think you do. As good as Golden State is, and should continue to be, it's not a guarantee that they continue to make the finals, just like it's not a guarantee the Cavs continue to make it there. We all know first hand the dangers of making moves to match up with one specific team, then never actually playing that team.

What happens if, say, New Orleans figures out the pieces to put around AD and Cousins and makes a run (as a hypothetical)? The Cavs would absolutely need a guy like Kevin in that situation.

It just doesn't make sense to me to trade him for lesser players to, maybe, improve a matchup against one team you may not even play.

I disagree with not assuming Golden State will be there. I said it at the beginning of the year and I'll keep beating the drum. Unless Paul goes to SAS I think it's a really safe assumption (well over 50% if we are talking about expected values) that we play the Warriors every year.

You can't hedge against every risk. If the 0.5% chance happens that the Grizzlies ever come out of the West well then so be it. I'd much rather be prepared for the perennial 85-95% chance that we see Golden State

That said I expect Love to play very well this series

Love didnt play in the first series and was injured last year for most of the series. (which the media doesnt fucking mention but Curry's broke vagina keeps coming up)

I think Love will be very good in this series, his defense is actually what we need and was good last year for the 2 games he was actually healthy.

No.

If this series keeps going like it is(I don't think it will) then trading Kevin for PG/Butler would be a must if we want to try and beat the Warriors. It's not Love's fault this time but it's not like we're going to trade Kyrie.

If Thompson is going to be unplayable against the Warriors then I'm going to try and get Melo here.

Kyrie, Butler/PG, Lebron, Melo would get to take turns attacking Stephanie all series.

Hopefully this discussion gets put off for another year.

The time is coming where lebron has to become a full time PF...if that transition is made...love will have to be traded. It sucks cuz he's great but we need to assemble a team that can match-up better against the warriors. Though idk what the front office can do to make that happen...

If the Cavs could trade Love for George, they would.

They can't.

Simply needing one of those guys and actually getting one of those guys are entirely different things.

On the bright side...loves trade value has got to be the highest it's ever been as a Cav :chuckle:

Paul George can change things by trying to force his way here.

If you're Indiana, would you rather have Kevin Love, or nothing?

Because Boston ain't trading that #1 pick if PG flat out tells them he won't re-sign with them.

Yea this was my line of thinking as well. If the Lakers love is true that would be the only team I'd see trying to risk it.

In this scenario of Cavs getting destroyed by the the Warriors I'm not going to worry about Ainge making a move. Ainge has been scared to death of Lebron I can't imagine how scared he would be of the Warriors in this scenario.

Uhmmmm what's going on in here? Kevin Love has been our second best player by a very, very wide margin this finals.
I agree but if Cavs get destroyed are you going to trade Kyrie instead of Love? I didn't think so...

It's not Love's fault but how else do you significantly close the gap if this is a 5 game series?
