2017 Cavs Summer League

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wouldn't waste roster spots on Felder or Tavares...send them to the G league and forget about them... they can't help this season

The more I watch him the more I like Pointer... not skilled but pesky and he is all over the place...

Tavares is really bad on offense. Like really really bad.

Pointer would be a good guy to have in practice just to make our guys work.

Really disruptive on defense.

Pointer in the area of a quadruple double with 14 pts, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals.
Also 2 blocks.

Greatest Cavaliers related wins all time:

1.) this Summer League game
2.) Game 7 2016 Finals

Highlight of the night was Lue not wanting Jones to hear his fat jokes so trying to get on air one last time.

Tavares is really bad on offense. Like really really bad.

He's unpolished on offense, not necessarily really bad. If a 7'3 guy can make passes and mid-range jump shots in the pick n pop game, you can use him. I'd like to see less plays where he attacks the basket and trips all over himself, but that's a product of playing against bad defenders in the G League.

I do see the approach to rebounding as his biggest flaw. Dude has a 9'10 standing reach and make no effort to position his body for the rebound. The rebounds he does get are uncontested or happenstance.

Trading for fultz was such a bad trade to make. Fox, Ball, Dsj are all going to be better than him.

It's way too early for all that, especially since Fultz sprained his ankle and got robbed of showing off his skills. I'll tell you what, though: Sacramento did well coming away with Fox.

Yep

They could have also got Monk and should have as well imo.

Fox, Monk, Boddy would have been great core for the guards spot. You could possibly play all 3 at the same time some games considering so many teams are going small nowadays.

T.J. Williams played well and is definitely a guard prospect to bring to camp. Dom Pointer played well but did not shoot the perimeter shot at all. Prather played well at times. Could see these three in camp. Brandon Paul was a definite to camp but the Spurs signed him to a guaranteed contract so too bad.

I watched about half of the gameplay for the Cavs summer league.

0 players on that roster are even close to contributing. I'd give TJ Williams, Pointer, and Prather looks in training camp at least as 2-way contract guys.

I was thrilled when the Cavs drafted Felder. But he's done absolutely nothing to improve after an entire year. With his limitations, if he can't improve in a single area over a year's span he has no chance. It's unfortunate being that he has the base skillset necessary for smaller guards to actually be useful.

Tavares is fun because he's huge, but he blows. Would much rather throw the minimum to guys like Willie Reed (who I'd even give the rest of the mMLE to), Splitter, Withey, or shit even Roy Hibbert lol.
