Derrick Rose: Outta Here!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Over the last 3 seasons Rose played 50+ games per season and averaging around 30 minutes a game. I'd be happy with that if he continues to stay healthy during the playoffs. It's a great cheap pickup for us and i'm excited to be honest. Last season with the Knicks he showed some classic old D-Rose. Clearly his 3 point shooting sucks and he ain't the facilitator that we need but that's what Jose Claderon is for. Rose can score at will.. just not from deep..

I wouldn't call a 47% field goal percentage/47.7% effective FG% "scoring at will" TBH. He has always sucked at 3 point shooting, though not as bad as now, and it does hurt his scoring efficiency quite a bit.

I don't know what happened to his passing stats over the years though...he has dropped from 8 assists/36 and like a 40% assist percentage down to less than 5 assists/36. You don't pass with your knees so not sure why his injuries should have affected that so dramatically. I guess it's that now that defenses are less scared of him the drive and dish opportunities don't come so easy. He never seemed like a really great passer in the old days, more somebody who could collapse the defense very easily, so I guess now that he doesn't dominate the ball and reach the hoop quite as easily the assist opportunities have dried up.

He just is not a PG for the modern game, if we are starting him that's bad news, but he will be a great scoring change of pace off the bench. At the price we got him he's a bargain for sure.

Could also be that the Knicks suck and couldn't ever get the triangle right.

A lot people feel kyrie can score a will inside.

2016-17
Kyrie 2pt attempts 13.6 with 6.9 makes

Rose 2pt attempts 14.2 with 7 makes

Their career 2pt% shooting is nearly identical too

Rose's eFG% is lower because 2pt% is more efficient then his 3pt%. He knows this that's why his 3pt attempts are so low

Kyrie is the opposite. His 2pt shot is less efficient then his 3pt shot and obviously why his eFG% is higher then his 2pt%

But the inside stats show they are equally deadly

Keyword being (career). We're not getting the old rose.

Koby Altman just stated in his press conference that Rose will be a backup and he is preparing for that role.

(It could all be just lip service in order to keep Kyrie's value up, but I believe it because Rose will need time to get back into basketball shape after the injury, and will need to stay healthy for the season. Thus a backup role with reduced minutes will be great starting point. )

Our Bench needs a scorer and Rose is still a scorer in this league. He will annihilate backup guards and I agree in a perfect world he is SMOTY type backup.

NSFHome, got folks looking at me like I'm watching a porno with his stupid grunts :chuckle:
Yea my girl just looked at me like WTF..... smh

The stats I provided are last year. Just simply added that their career 2pt% is near identical.

Old Rose attacked the rim at a rate much higher then kyrie. Infact last year was Kyrie's most 2pt attempts and New Rose still managed more 2pt attempts.

Simply saying that Rose 2pt% was and is nearly identical as kyrie. He just can't get to the rim as often but even though he doesn't get there as often he still gets there as often as Kyrie

How do you think old Rose managed to score all those points without efficient 3pt shot

I remember watching the games last year and the year before. Rose was blowing by Kyrie and killing us at the rim.
He doesnt have the handles or wizardry of Kyrie but he has a better burst and a knack for finishing.
New Rose = MVP Rose compared to the speed of the corpse of Deron Williams.

It’s also worth mentioning that a Derrick Rose led team was the closest thing to beating the Cavs in the playoffs before the Finals, barely 2 years ago... I still remember that buzzer beater he hit.

Even with the injury concerns, the guy is a steal as a backup.
