2018 NBA Draft - June 21

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The thing that makes doncic so appealing is he's doing everything he is doing at a very young age against the best non nba competition there is. Compare him to rubio and he's light years ahead with a varied offensive game. A team like the cavs might really value his ability to come in and contribute strait away. Having said that I have to value size and upside personally and porter plays a lot like his coach Roy used to with a smoothness that will make him a top tier player

EDIT:
When i see Bagley it reminds me of this guy in his early days

He might not be as good but the size, mobility and motor seem to be there along with a varied skillset

Because I'm not concerned with which state Porter is playing in or whom he's playing against. The competition is completely irrelevant. Nobody can stop what he's doing because he's making moves that translate to the NBA level.

It's not that he's dunking on guys or smashing alley oops...he's making beautiful pull ups in transition, stepbacks, using excellent footwork. Creating his own shot in a variety of ways.

When 6'10 freak explosive High School guys are making moves that already translate at the NBA level, the chances are they are going to be incredible NBA players.

As for Doncic...what is he doing that screams once in a lifetime NBA superstar to you? He just looks like a role player to me. I understand that Doncic is playing against high level competition, but he's not doing anything particularly impressive or freakish there. He just looks like a good player.

What does the state that Porter came from have anything to do with it? How is that an argument for or against him?

Nobody can stop Doncic either, and yes the competition is 100% relevant. He's not doing anything impressive ? He posted a TS% of 58% as a 17 year old in the second best basketball in the league, not some garbage ass high school kids like porter plays.

Doncic averaged nearly a triple double per 40 this last year as a 17 year old in the second best league in the world. With almost 2 steals per game.

Doncic posted a PER of 21, Porzinginis was 2 years older and posted a PER of 23.

I mean that's alot more impressive than playing HS kids in Missouri who don't ever play after HE, doing it vs better completion matters more than your opinion.

My guess it's a Doncic is white or euro thing and not his actual talent.

I can tell this won't go anywhere with you, so let's cut it off at the pass.

I am not going to watch any more prospect video until this deal goes through now lol.

Don't worry, the dick, sorry pick will come.

Porter played this last year in Washington, and his team played a national schedule.

Doncic will be a really good player in the NBA. Porter is just a better prospect with a higher ceiling.

Doncic has been playing for Real Madrids club since he was 13 and on the senior since he was 16. Played a pretty big role on the one of the best teams in the best league outside of the NBA as a 17 year old.

The competition Doncic played against is much better than that of US high school teams. Real Madrid has 6 former NBA players and Sergio Llull ( Llull should be in the NBA but turned multiple down offers from Houston to stay in Spain) There are multiple teams with a similar number of former NBA players in the Euroleagues.

The point is that the competition Doncic has faced is far better than anything Porter has faced so far. To imply Porter will be better because of the competition he played over a national schedule during High School in WA will make him the better just isn't correct when you compare it to the competition Doncic has been playing (Doncic is about a year younger than Porter btw)

Never said Porter played better competition, nor did I imply that.

It seems people are getting hung up on the competition Porter is facing. Do you guys think he won't be able to get the shots he's taking now at 6'10 in the NCAA and then in the NBA after?

That's my point. This isn't a 5'9 guy dominating other 5'9 guys with layups. This is a guy who is 6'10 making very mature shots from all over the court. He can get those shots any level due to his size and talent.

Regarding Doncic...I'll leave you guys to it. I'm just not seeing any skill that stands way out. He doesn't seem to be absolutely superb at anything. Maybe his floor is high, but the ceiling just seems low.

Donic is Ball on steroids dude is bigger, more athletic, better shooter, and a better passer

Bagley then Porter IMO

Bagley and Doncic both look like good prospects, but Porter is the clear number one prospect to me. Generational talent. They don't make em that big and that skilled, but when they do they're Kevin Durant or Paul George.

He's the prize in this Cracker Jack box thing we call the draft.

I have watched more Doncic. He still just doesn't leap off the screen to me. I see him more positively than I did before, but I still don't see the generational talent I do in Porter.

I do think Doncic is a unique player. I've seen a Hedo comparison, and I think he could be better than Hedo because he is more athletic and smooth. Better ball-handler.

I've also seen poor-man's LeBron and J-Kidd comparisons, which are bizarre comparisons. The rich man, poor man stuff makes no sense. There are how many players that have gone through the NBA in history and you have to rich-man, poor-man guys? Just seems lazy and unresearched. You're also talking about the greatest basketball player of all time and another Hall of Famer that may have been the best at his position...who played the game in an entirely different style...at an entirely different size.

Nic Batum seems to be a good comparison to me for what he'd likely be at the NBA level. And I think a lot of teams would be happy nabbing Nic Batum in the top 5.

Watching him go against Porzingis, he actually took him on directly for a few baskets. Donci has balls. If the othwr to top3 are KG/KD level then of course, but the old school bag of tricks and the vision be has puts him right up there.

Doncic quietly leading EuroBasket in defensive rebounds. I haven't been watching Slovenia's games, so I'm not totally sure how he's doing it, but that's pretty eye-popping from an 18-year-old guard. Can see him being a triple double threat on down the road.
