Week 5: Jets @ Browns

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I could point to roughly 5-10 things that Hue is doing to actively hurt the team.

Today was my final straw. We were easily the most talented team on that field. And he put the team in a losing situation.

Until today I was fully bought in to the process, I did a 180 today. I knew we had to take our lumps with Kizer but he is currently our best chance at a franchise QB. Hue hasn't been holding up his end though, he has to put less pressure on Kizer and has to be willing to take the lumps with the rest of us.

The play calling was terrible all game and its on Hue as much as anyone that we didn't score in the redzone. Crow had his first decent game of the year but Duke has out shined him every game this season. Thankfully Britt was hurt and we didn't have to go throw Hue unwilling to bench him.

I would be fine if they fired Hue tonight. He needs to give up play calling. Who knows what kind of damage he did to Kizer's confidence today but this is the second time he has done it to a QB. Kessler might as well be out of the league now and I'm now under the assumption that Kizer is on the Kessler path vs our franchise QB path. Now we can watch a bunch of QBs get benched, injuried, etc for the next 11 games and make no progress as a franchise.

It is clear is day the intentions of this team yet every week we have people in here pinning everything on one person. The team is tanking. On purpose? No, but when you put together a roster like this you are making your intentions clear. Stop bitching. Y'all know the damn deal.

What exactly does firing Hue or Sashi do right now? Immediately start another rebuild on top of a rebuild that's in year two? No. Please don't let yourself get hooked. You know damn well that they are tanking lol. If you're gonna go to the games have a good time. If you're gonna watch then find something to look forward to. If you can't do that then why are you here? What the hell are you looking for? Why are you watching? Seriously. I know why I'm watching. Young players and a team being built from the ground up. I want to see it through. You do have a choice on watching or not. Please find something to be excited about if you watch.

Njoku was great today. Kirksey was smacking. Myles is as advertised and he's clearly not 100%.

The deal with tanking though is to develop your young players while gaining draft status to get better draft picks. The moment Hue pulled Kizer he open himself up to this. What is the point of Hue if he can't develop his high draft pick QB? He ruined Kessler by pulling him multiple times mid game. He doesn't have to win but he has to put his players in a position to develop themselves. Having Kizer on the bench does nothing for his development especially if the QB he is watching is Kevin Hogan.

I like Kizer. I want him to do well and I certainly don't blame all the failures of the offense on him.

That said...

At some point you have to help yourself.

Kevin Hogan has replaced Kizer in three different games now and looked significantly more competent all three times. All the issues we hear over and over about the offense line being terrible or the receivers not getting open or the play calling being shoddy all seem to magically not be that big of a deal the moment a QB that can quickly process what's happening in front of him enters the game.

To rebuild, you have to be, at one point, built.

Honestly, this would be the cleanest situation in the NFL for a new regime to come in to-- hordes of young players, high draft picks, no long-term obligations or aging players. There's no need to turn the roster over, it's already been stripped down to the studs.

Yeah, blow er up.

We did, this is what happens.

Half our roster is 23 or under. We are starting the youngest rookie qb ever, and have our top 2 receivers out (debatable if best, but top 2 per depth chart)

I was encouraged by allot. The qb play looked awful. Its not hue turning the ball over our missing makeable fg's.

Its early, I think Kizer gets better, but if we pick one and Sam Donald comes out, I think you have to take him and sit him behind Kizer for a year. You have to get the QB position correct.

I am fine with the FO. The majority of their picks look decent. But the QBs that Hue has wanted look like trash and they have drafted two offensive skill guy high. One looks great and the other is a little injury prone.

They did do a complete roster overhaul. I like THEIR guys. Our defense looks pretty legit. I want to see them make skill offense picks. I have no problems with them

I have a large problem with excess penalties, stupid play calls and dumb challenges/time outs. That is stuff that is direct correlations between losing and Hue.

Sam Darnold is not the answer. He isnt going to come out anyway.

Ok. So at what point do we expect there to be NFL caliber football played? Or more than a 1 win season? Because it's not looking like 2017 is any improvement on 2016.
