^^^One thing to add. I guess this begs the question, did the team underperform, or did they over-perform last year and return to their true talent levels in this last playoff series?

The last few years have been super fun with the Cavs and Indians doing their thing, but man, I'm starting to see what's on the horizon in the next year or so when the Indians' window begins closing as well as the Cavs'. Then we'll be stuck with rebuilding teams (one in the Cavs who will likely never see another Finals appearance after LeBron leaves) and, um, that other team that plays football.

Good. Lord.
At least you won’t have to worry about getting TOO emotionally invested and then suffer the possibility of a huge letdown…

So there’s that?

Again.

162 games.

5 games.

Which sample size are you trusting? I'm going with 162 sample size...they are a better team this year, that went cold at the worst possible time. Anti clutch.

Nobody is pleased with those things. A WS title is what we need to see in our lifetimes. This franchise has just dealt out an unconscionable amount of pain.

As cruel as the Browns and Cavs were, in the 80s, it is nothing compared to the heartbreak the Indians have dealt out in the last 25 years. The collapses we had to witness in 1997, 1999, 2007, 2016, and 2017 were cruel and unusual. Heck - there’s another late-season collapse in there, where they lost the last 6 games and missed the playoffs. THAT had a name, until we got kicked in the balls a few more times.

Why fill a stadium for a franchise that does nothing but kick you in the nads?

Oh believe me, I did not buy any playoff tickets this year. And I bought the cheap seats during the season. But this wasn't the Dolans fault. They spent this year. The team was just an enormous let down. Even 22 has a bit of a sour taste as it makes you think of an All-time choke job.

Think about moving a starter for some young sticks or young starters to stash for the future?
Salazar may fetch a nice haul.

This team deserves better than you sorry lot of fans.

Embarrassing.

Shut the fuck up you queef... the only sorry one here is you. People invest a lot of time, money, and emotions into this and have a right to be upset after this team massively choked in a year with so much promise and hope.

Time for me to vent, though I doubt anything below will be very original.

The Good:

-We are still a young team with a ton of talent and potential. Next year we will get to see more of what Zimmer, Mejia, Gonzalez, Allen, and maybe Naquin have to offer.
-Most of our main guys are locked up.
-We still won the Division, 100+ games, and 22 straight. To say that is nothing even in the wake of what feels like a wasted postseason, is to lose the joy of baseball.
-Game 2 was still fucking amazing.

The Bad:
-Honestly, poor management. Tito seemed to be planning ahead for the ALCS instead of worrying about the team we were playing. We relied way too much on injured guys who weren't ready to produce. Last year we lost to a Cubs team that outmatched us when we only had 3 (at best) starters worth a damn in a 7-game series. This year we had 5 solid starters and blew a 5-game series. Tito used Bauer on short rest after using up Tomlin and Clev in game 2. Where was Merritt? Why did we only get one start out of Cookie and waste it? And why were we trotting Miller out at every opportunity as if he was pitching like he was last year? I don't want to fire Tito. In fact, I'd like him to stay for a decade or more if he can keep producing seasons like this one. We know he can lead a team to the WS and WIN. He'll break through for us, I know it. But we can stop with the "Trust Tito" shit and realize that he's made mistakes. That being said, he knows way more about baseball than me and has accomplished so much with this team.
-The Yankees. Only losing to the Sox would've been worse... Or the Cubs.
-Going out with a whimper was lame as hell. And losing 3 straight when we were up to finish the season... AGAIN... sucks ass.

The Ugly:
-Our stars looked like fucking losers.
-Lindor had one big hit and one almost big hit.
-Ramirez was so horrible and it was terrible to watch this MVP level talent just shit the bed.
-Kluber getting rocked twice in a row still doesn't make sense to me. WTF?
-Brantley looked lost in every at bat. I would've loved to see what he could do with a full healthy season, but it feels like we'll never get that. He was a wasted roster spot this postseason.
-Edwin got hurt, so meh.
-Kip, relative to the rest of the lineup's performance, wasn't half bad, which is fucking pathetic.
-Miller seemed to make mistakes or break down in every outing. He returned too late from injury.

This team clearly under performed and/or choked (and I hate using the word choked). It's baseball and shit happens, pre-destiny is mostly bullshit in this game. But damn this sucked. Oh well, next year is our year.

Why are people loyal to Brantley and Kip. They have been pretty much useless as of late (especially Brantley).

Because Brantley was batting .300 and had an OBP of .360 until he got hurt, we know he's a very good player when he's healthy.

Clearly didn't have it in this series coming off a 3 at bat tune up after missing 2 months. Not that anyone else on the team really did any better.

Work in a setting with several Yankees fans. Just ordered my Astros t-shirt.

Which begs 2 questions. Why was he on the post season roster missing 2 months of the season and only playing in 2 games before the playoffs? I could see the ALCS roster not the ALDS roster.

Also Brantley has been injured for a variety of years. He was hitting .299 before he got injured it also seems like this team had better chemistry and was playing better without Brantley (this year and last)

You mean Brantley? The guy who would maybe has 3 at bats all series if EE doesn't get hurt?

Game 2 went 13 innings and Salazar was the last guy standing in the bullpen. You act like he unnecessarily burned Tomlin and Clevinger.

You wanted Merritt on the team? Who the fuck for? I don't think a single Indian fan saw the 25 man roster and thought, "oh damn, wish Tito carried Merritt"

You're blaming Tito for the team scoring 0 runs in Game 3?

Because Miller is one of the most dominant relievers in baseball. What appearance from him could you possibility be upset about? Before the Greg Bird HR in the Top of the 7th, he came in after Cookie loaded the bases in the 6th and got Castro to pop out.

These takes are awful.

About time for a Players Tribune article about getting back on the grind, staying hungry and redeeming themselves.

Because he is one of the best pure hitters on the team and seemed best fit for a pinch hitter role. If Tito knew Edwin would get hurt and miss ~3 games, I'm sure he would have carried Yandy. Although he had his own struggles 2nd half of September.

Saying the team has better chemistry without him is based off of absolutely nothing. Just because we made the World Series last year and went on the 22 game streak this year without him in the lineup doesn't mean we are a better team without a .300 hitter in the lineup. Implying a correlation there a such an unbelievably large stretch.
