2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Our 2016 team may end up being the only team to topple this decade's dynasty in Golden State.

Kyrie was a huge part of that. Giannis is incredible, but I'm sticking with the player I know over the player that COULD be better.

Ugh...ok.

Milwaukee’s D with Bledsoe looks pretty good I will say. Still unsure of the fit offensively. If Bledsoe ever became a 38% 3 pt shooter they’d be insanely good though.

I still wanna see them be consistent over a long stretch of games before I change my mind about them. They’re a team that can string together 4 or 5 quality wins and then immediately lose 3-4 in a row to like the Hornets/Mavs/Hawks or something like that, lol.(also known as the cavs so far this year lol)

Well, Robert Covington has picked the right time to learn how to shoot. He's gonna get a shit ton of money, hopefully it pays for Philly and his shooting doesn't regress fully.

He has always been a good shooter. His 3pt% percentage doesn't do him justice.

He is a volume 3pt shooter with at over 8 3PA per 36 for his career. He was surrounded by scrubs that got him no good looks up until this point... most of his shots came from the top of the key and only 15% of them were wide open. He shot 44% percent on wide open 3pt shots for his career.

He is an elite shooter when left wide open and he has improved even more. Its not a fluke season.. he will probably balance out at 42% or something.

Covington is a really good player. Too bad there’s no way to pry him away from philly because he’s a perfect fit there beteeen Simmons and Embiid and even Fultz. He’d be perfect here too. One of the best 3 and D guys in the NBA.

I was gonna say, a lot of board members have been pimping him out for years. You could see the talent and understand that the stats didn't do all the talking. Good to see him finally getting his due.

Ugh, I'm sorry dude but there's a difference between shooting 38% from the field and 49% and there's a difference between shooting 33% from 3 and 50%.

Covington was a 42% 3-point shooter in college over the course of 4 seasons. Pretending he just now "learned how to shoot" is incredibly naive.

So is ignoring context here dude.

He's blowing his numbers off the charts. He's been an ok-to-decent 3 point shooter in his career. He's currently sitting as one of the very best in the league.

So, yea, let's try and keep up with the entire conversation.

Covington takes twice as many 3pt shots as he takes 2's. That's why his FG% percentage is low. His eFG% is over .500 for his career, so he is efficient.

HIS FG% almost perfectly reflects his 3pt% and so it's currently at 49% like you said. It doesn't change a thing other than the fact that he gets more open shots, but was still a good shooter before this season.

I said he is probably going to finish around 42% from 3 for the season.

You said he just learned how to shoot and that's false.

He is a better shooter than Love even if his percentage says otherwise.

You guys are missing the point I was making.

It's a contract year and he's having, what is by far, the best season of his career. He's went from a solid shooter to an elite shooter. One of the best of the best. Like, are we pretending that it isn't gonna factor in to how much he gets paid or what here? It's super beneficial for him to have this type of start to the season during a contract year.

Sure it is, but Philly would have paid whatever to keep him around. He was still very valuable even when he shot 33% from 3. If he shoots sub 40% then his impact is enormous. Regardless, he is going to be in Philly and get paid plenty and that was their plan before this season.

Its only 3 game since the trade, but the Bucks are 3 and 0 and have beaten San Antonio and Memphis.

That's THE threat in the East. Giannis is probably a top 5 player, although it feels soon to say that. But if he keeps this up, its what he is.

Giannis is probably a top 5 player? Dude is playing like the best player in the league. Ultra odd that he's not even a great shooter which makes it almost impossible to consider him the best in this era of the NBA but he's so good at everything else that it's still the case

Weird that he hasn't improved his jumper at all. Coaching staff fucked this up abit.

I believe his improvement as a player should all be credited to him. he has a mean streak in him that is impossible to teach. But his technical fauls are all still there... still has the same faulty shot mechanics.

Giannis with a 3pt shot breaks the league... literally.

FWIW, he will probably not shoot 45+% all year. Probably end up at like 38-41% which is still good.

Dude is gonna get paid huge money no matter what though and he doesn’t strike me as a “contract year” type of guy since he’s been battling his ass off defensively even during the prime “process” years where there was no hope.

He’s going to probably get pretty close to the max. If Otto Porter got a max not sure why Covington can’t get at least 85% of one.
