I'm a little confused by your post. Are you saying that it's ok to prefer Norweigans to Africans/Haitians because they are more educated and more advanced?

On an individual basis, no, because it is entirely possible for a specific Haitian to be a preferable immigrant to a specific Norwegian.

However, in a macro-sense, yes. I'd prefer immigrants who are more educated and more advanced. And the average Norwegian is likely to be more educated, advanced, and more easily integrated into another advanced western democracy like us than is the average Haitian.

Or are you saying that Trump didn't mean to prefer Norweigans and is being misunderstood?

Oh, I think he very likely does prefer that we get more immigrants from Norway and fewer from Haiti. I just don't see anything wrong with that because statistically, they are more likely to meet the preferred criteria I just identified.

In 1960 9/10 Americans were white.
In 2020 it will be 7/10.
In 2060 it will be 5/10. Even if we closed the borders today it would still be 6/10 due to births and deaths.

One thing that is kind of amusing about this is that Trump is being criticized for hurting our relations with foreign countries with these comments.

But these comments weren't public. No damage was done until someone like Durbin (or whoever it was) decides to disseminate those comments to the public.

Which means that the people who did that care more about making Trump look bad than they do about damaging U.S. foreign relations.

You're trying too hard to take what the President said and warp it out of the context of the discussion. They're talking about immigration, and he's specifically made comments about why "these people" should not come to the US; people from "shithole countries."

Telling me that you don't like a place as a tourist, doesn't tell me anything about growing up and living in such a place as a native; or how such a person might have value to the United States as an immigrant...

And to be frank, Ty; given you call yourself "Chinese," and are with a Chinese woman, how do you think the Chinese might feel if you called their homeland a "shithole?"

Like ... try to think about this for a second... the "chain immigration" they want to do away with, would have eradicated that Asian family you love so much, just as it would have eradicated my Asian family....

I didn't say Trump was a victim. I was talking about the motivations of whomever leaked that comment, which you pointedly chose to ignore.
