The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Has anyone played both Witcher 3 and Horizon? How do they stack against each other? Comparable?

I’ve played both and dumped a ton of time in both. I might be a little bit biased because I am a fan of the Witcher series as a whole and was genuinely sad when I finished the third one because I knew I would never be able to experience it for the first time again.

Witcher 3 is in a class all its own, but Horizon is a fantastic game, maybe even one of the best that’s come out in recent years. Plenty of depth, interesting story/setting, and great gameplay.

Size-wise, Witcher 3 probably has a little bit bigger map. Time-wise, I have 180+ hours invested in a single playthrough of the Witcher and I still haven’t gotten every achievement, probably somewhere near 90-95% completion. I could say the same for Horizon but in about half that time.

I would recommend both if possible, but Witcher 3 if you can only pick one.

Just finished Far Cry 5. Enjoyable, but I probably won’t pick it back up until the DLC drops. The ending was... interesting, to say the least. If you’re on the fence, I say it’s worth GameFlying - you can beat it in a week.

Is Sea of Thieves any good? Trying to find some other games to occupy my time for the next few weeks.

I've been having a ton of fun with it. It's a game that basically requires good teammates to be fun, though. I haven't had much of an issue finding a group of people to play with, but it can be some work when you're just joining games by yourself and pairing up with randoms. You may need to search several times before you find a crew that's worth a damn.

I highly recommend adding people that are good to your friend list so you can play with them again later.

I just picked up the X, will be trading in my old One.

On the 20th I get the God of War PS4 Pro.

No I can finally enjoy both sides ;-)

Yeah it was awesome when I did this. Gave my old Xbone to my girlfriend so she can use it for apps and shit. Bought a PS4 back in June, been loving it too. Don't have a Switch yet though.

Contemplating the purchase of a gaming PC...

Worth it? I already own both Xbox and PS4...

Lol....

Should I wait until this console cycle is over?

Nah... Once you move to PCs you'll never go back to console gaming unless it's for PS4 exclusives.

Also can anyone tell me how this works? Would this be good?

That build is absurdly overpriced.... For $1,500, to end up with a 1070... It's just asinine. Like, WTF?

The 1080 is 30% faster, and less than $100 more expensive. That's 30% performance increase for 17% cost increase - making it a no-brainer upgrade if one can afford to do so. The 1080 Ti makes the most sense, but there's currently a ridiculous amount of price gouging going on due to cryptocurrency mining; so good luck finding a 1080 Ti at it's MSRP of $699.99.

But yeah, that build is fucking garbage... You could do a hell of a lot better sourcing a higher end GPU and then building the parts around it after you buy it. If you can afford a $1,500 complete computer, then you can afford the best graphics card on the market (a 1080 Ti) or at least one step down in the 1080.

Any advice? Wait for crypto to cool off?

I’m not sure how to go about this.

Also, almost every single one of my friends are console gamers....

You could be waiting awhile .. like, years..

If all of your friends are console gamers, and you guys play together -- then perhaps stick with a console? But IMHO, there is no comparison between the two.. PC gaming is just unrivaled in this era.

It didn't used to be that way in the 16-bit and 32-bit era of gaming from the Genesis to the PS2/Dreamcast, consoles were just all around better gaming platforms for anything not wholly 3D. But the PS3/Xbox 360 generation was probably the last where console gaming made more sense than a PC.

I’m just awful with this technical stuff.

Can you, or anyone else for that matter, recommend a reasonably priced pre built that will give me the most bang for my buck? Or am I better off building one somewhere.

Got to rant for a sec. I'm playing mlb the show 18 road to the show. Power hitting RF. Got drafted by the angels. First season in the majors, I fractured my forearm and was out for months. Lost to the yankees in the alcs.

Next season, my dude fractured his shin. Out until the start of the playoffs. Up 3-1 on the yankees in the alcs. Lose the series.

3rd season now. My durability is maxed out at 80. Wasn't taking any chances. Best record in baseball through early August. I get a notification that I strained a ligament in my ankle and I could either play through it and possibly make it worse or go on the 10 day dl. Went on the 10 day dl because I thought it was only gonna be 10 days. Was out the rest of the season and playoffs. Lose to the Twins in the alcs.

Haven't touched the game in like 4 days. Still fuming.

I just can't stomach sports games anymore. I engross myself in actual sports so much.
