Different topic - Blatt just won today the Eurocup with a low budget turkish team.. and he already said he wants to go back to the NBA this season.. think he has a chance? (He is mostly considered for the Nicks)..

Crazy game, and a great win for Blatt, but how do you know they're a low budget team? Would be totally absurd for a low budget team to hire Blatt.

Other than Wilbekin they are pretty terrible.

Tbh, over his all career it seems like Blatt has turned PGS into high usage stars. Wilbekin, Will Bynum, Tyrese Rice...to name a few.

I don't know how he makes teams play above their level and he always makes his teams play hard...atleast on the euroleague/eurocup level. I'll give him that.

I don't see any Princeton offense when I watch his teams play though.

Just looked it up and apparently they're paying Blatt over 2M/year to coach...so all I'm saying is this isn't some random team he's led out of the basketball backwaters to a championship; it's probably one of the richer teams in Eurocup. Wilbekin isn't bad either. Would be a solid bench PG in the NBA.

When he started there - they were expected to be highly budgeted. However, in the second year the team sponsor 'Dogus' retracted their finances and decided to be the primary sponser of entire Euroleague and the turkish team fenerbache... All of the team stars left and blatt stayed for another year with a totaly watered down roster..

Yeah, now I see that they got demoted from Euroleague to Eurocup; that probably had some to do with it. And indeed, lost not only Zizic but also Wanamaker and several other top players.

He needs young team to mold. I think his style would be more accepted in NY than people think. If Porzingus bought in I could see it. He's certainly better than what they have had in years and years.

.
I think it was also apperant in the cavs team.. Delly... I miss him...
He was definitly able to bring out more from players like Delly, Mozgov - even shump and TT had grit back then..

Wow, they actually had the 5th-highest budget in Euroleague ($25M) last year according to this: https://www.hoopfax.com/overseasbasketballteamsbudgets/

So that explains why they signed Blatt to such a rich contract.

Probably closer to 10M this year, which isn't peanuts by Euro standards, but a dramatic change from just a year ago indeed.

Would legit re-consider him if LeBron leaves. Let him work his magic with the Brooklyn pick and Cedi.

Why would he take the job though?

No LeBron or Kyrie, new GM [who I think Blatt would love], and a clear rebuilding vision. He'd also be able to pick his own staff, I assume. So no more Lues waiting to take his spot.

Blatt is a smart guy and the smart thing for him to do is try and get a job in the NBA that is not the Cavs. This ship has sailed for both parties.. both moved on

I think Blatt would Love to work with Zizic, Cedi and a new rookie to groom, but I have zero belief he is going to just forget about all the turmoil, the media and the fact that they had tried to fire him 3 times before Lue decided to take over. Dan Gilbert is still in charge, and in the end he is the one responsible for the firing, no?

It's so tough to start a new chapter even with Lebron and Griffin gone...the media is still here, Gilbert is still here. After winning the Eurocup, he is going to have more enticing alternatives in my opinion. A chance to start with a clean slate.

I think even Cavalier fans need someone new because some of them were still left with a bad taste in their mouth from that tenure, whether it was justified or not, and I believe it was definitely not, but it doesn't matter. I believe however, that we need to overhaul the whole coaching staff basically, not just switch the head coach.

I believe he needs to move on for his own sake. It was not a healthy relationship.
