Was thinking about this earlier but really didn’t know how to put it ? So just figured this was the way to go.

As someone who has been around here for quite some time it has become quite apparent that the majority of the fan base does not like this particular team. We love the franchise, we love having one of the best players of all time, having Larry Nance Jr (just cause) J.R. Smith will always hold a special place as will Kevin Love and we’re intrigued with Cedi and (for some of us) Zizic — that said; there’s something about this 2018 team most of us just can’t stand?

I’m watching these other teams and check out a forum or 2 when I have some time to see the tone of the talk with their teams — and outside of the Spurs, I don’t see a fan base who has as much disdain currently for their playoff team than us ?

Is it the fact most of us believe the team cannot win a title and we’re spoiled from earlier success? (I’m noticing this with the Spurs fan base as well)

We wish we had more success with LeBron’s career ?

Frustrated with the coach and personnel outside of LeBron ?

Disappointed that this team seems to have more outside noise and distractions than most ?

A bit envious that we don’t play a brand of ball that some of these other teams play ? (Team seems to not play hard on either end of the floor)

Just kinda wondering what it is specifically that most of us don’t like ? I’ll admit I cannot stand this 17-18 version of the Cavs and I have no reason as to why ? I just don’t like this team.. Even if they were to win a title (which would be great) I just can’t see myself enjoying this version of the Cavs.

One reason really doesn’t outweigh the other for me, but I just don’t like this squad whatsoever..From the way I feel about them to what I see from them on (and in some cases off) the court...

For me the biggest issue is watching the Warriors who have generally gotten better every season since their relevance. After winning a championship, regardless of the fact that we won the next season, they came out and won 73 games and were a missed Kyrie 3 from winning a championship. And after they lost, they added a top 3 player.

After we won a championship, our team literally went into coast mode. The season we won a championship, we were 1st in the East and put in legitimate effort in the regular season, which carried over. To me, I haven't consistently enjoyed watching the Cavs since the championship because our expectations are so high. And they cakewalked through the East but the regular season issues came back against the Warriors in the finals. And it's now showing up again because we're playing a team which plays with consistent effort, so we can't just take an entire game off and try to win it in the 4th like we would be able to do against Washington... My biggest fear is that ever non-LeBron loving media personality is right that we can't just turn on the switch this season.

For me it's coaching and not playing with energy. I don't feel like they play up to their potential. They don't play defense most of the time and just coast on offense. They just aren't a fun team to watch.

There are certain players I like on this team but they might be the players Lue gives the least consistent minutes to.

I feel like the team, players, and the organization didn't do everything they could to get better after the championship. I understand taking a victory lap but they never got that fight back in them. They didn't settle completely but the day in and day out effort to win another championship isn't there.

Interesting topic as I've been telling my wife how unlikable this team is. For me its mainly centered around effort and coaching. Prior to the trade it was mostly disdain for Derrick Rose.

I just don't feel like anyone on this team has any dog in them. And if someone did, its the kind to just roll over and want its belly rubbed for being a good boy....

Yup. It's why every player is basically worse than they were prior to being here. And a guy like Tristan hasn't gotten better. You can see there is no actual drive for player development. The nail in the coffin of our coaching is that Zizic looked better after time with the Charge than he has when solely coached by the Cavs.

It just seems like a 'boys club' where favouritism reigns and no one really cares about winning.

I want to also add another point to my previous post. The biggest frustration is our time with LeBron is finite and we have literally done nothing coaching wise to maximize him. We've brought in guys who should be able to play without him, but even when we had Kyrie with Love last season, we couldn't win a game without LeBron. In a sad way, I'm looking forward to a post LeBron era because it means we can try to create a team that plays as a team. If we keep Lue at that point though, I might have to take a hiatus from Cavs basketball so I don't have an aneurism.

I think losing the 2nd best player in franchise history and (in my opinion) the most fun player to watch in the league while not having been able to replace him at all is another factor.

At first we had Isaiah Thomas trying to be Kyrie which was a complete failure. Then we added a bunch of guys who are good but not good enough. The fact is quality beats quantity, and we put major expectations on a bunch of role players that won't be able to deliver.

I mean, maybe they could deliver if we had the Spurs system or something but I just don't see a team with LeBron James playing team ball regardless of coach.

Truthfully, I feel much less attached to this team than previous iterations.

We have gotten rid of so many guys who provided likeability over the years. Like I fucking loved Channing Frye and RJ. That shit was actually hard for me when RJ got dumped. I know it's the front of the jersey that counts, but just this constant shuffling it feels like a new team now.

Like, I'm just not emotionally invested in Rodney Hood yet. He hasn't headbutten an opponent to stick up for a teammate yet like Frye did. He didn't write pieces on the Player Tribune about what it is like to play with LeBron James and have constant fan interaction like RJ.

No one has needed to go to the hospital after a game like Delly.

These last 4 years have been really fun. But, fuck, man. A lot of what made them fun is gone. I know everyone hates him now, but I still like Kyrie. He's immature as fuck, but he was one of my favorite Cavs ever. RJ and Frye and road tripping is gone and in its place we have a bunch of guys that I just don't feel that emotionally invested in.

It's been a weird year for me as a fan. I just don't enjoy watching as much as I did the last 3 years

We have bigmen that let players waltz into the paint and layup over their heads, overpaid roleplayers and a coach we have no faith in. The newer roleplayers aren't unlikeable but the core is fundamentally flawed if the goal is to win
