LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think Houston makes the most sense for him. His desire to ISO fits there, he has proven teammates in CP3 and Harden, and they're championship ready. They'd have to gut the rest of the team and convince someone to take on their contracts, so that's the challenge.

I don't see the appeal of trying to start fresh at LA or join a Philly team that, while young and talented, doesn't necessarily complement his game.

I'm not sure what other destinations make sense. Minnesota, Milwaukee, OKC? If Lebron is going to weigh-in on what makes sense for his family, especially since Bronny is going to be in high school soon, I'd have to think Cleveland is the favorite in that race, with LA second, and then nobody else.

If he stays, it has to be a 3-4 year deal. I would pass on a one year deal if I were the cavs

If he stays, zizic, cedi and our draft pick will be gone....teams will want them in any trades.
I would hate to lose both in any deal...even if he stays 3 -4 years.
Love would have to be moved for something that is a better fit, preferably a PG
JR is through but his expiring should be worth something
I think Korver has a little left but is too old
Hill should be moved.
TT ? no one wants that deal for a 10/10 guy

Nance has a role
Not convinced Clarkson or Hood will ever work out

I really do not see what the cavs can do to compete for the finals

Celtics have irving and heyward coming back. My bet is they trade irving and go with Rozier. irving when healthy is a stud...but that knee is a concern. Would you sign him to a max deal after next year. Ainge will not
Philly and Indy are up and coming. Toronto maybe different with a new coach

and no one is getting by GS in the next two years anyway

I do not know where he should go, but it is time for he and the cavs to part ways

He’d make the offense better, but he’d take the ball out of someone’s hands (Tatum’s, Brown’s, Horford’s, Rozier’s) and he’d make the defense worse. There’s absolutely zero guarantee they would be IN the ECF and up 2-0 had he played.
Terry Rozier is filling in for him and they haven't skipped a beat. He has to lowkey be pissed.. He went to Boston to be "the guy", but Brown or Tatum look like they're capable of becoming that in the next few years.

I truly believe that they should trade Hayward while he still has a high value. He's 28 while the other guys are 21 and 20.

If I'm the Celtics I absolutely explore a trade for Kyrie.. I have to wonder what he could possibly fetch though coming off of that knee surgery and in a final year of a contract. But I would roll with what they have going forward and get what I could for Kyrie now. He cannot be depended on injury wise and is such a liability defensively that I actually believe they are better off without him, especially with Hayward coming back as a near elite scorer.

Strictly hypothetical.
Say he stays. Say he decides he wants to finish out his career here, and just says to the Cavs organization "Ball is in your court"
What can the Cavs do to make things better, easier on him? How do we build a team that can beat that hoosier twerp in Boston? How do we build a team to get him a 2nd ring?
I'm blanking. Help.
I don't really see how that 8th pick helps Lebron win another championship. Any realistic trade is not enough to beat the Warriors and don't see a rookie gaining that much ground in the window that Lebron has.

There's clearly better basketball options out there for him if championships are still his only goal. IMO basically just hoping that Lebron wants to stay home for w/e reason whether it's him, or his family, or he wants his kid to go to school where he did. Maybe he likes the idea of still running the Cavs organization and running the offense the way he wants here.

Yes I'm grasping at straws...

Whether LeBron stays or goes he needs to commit to a 32 minute restriction in the regular season and go back to resting games.

In the playoffs he needs to be one a 35 to 38 minute restriction as well.

Those "bad habits" are a product of too many mins. He can't play hard for 40 mins so he has to pace himself within the game. Against smart/great teams they'll make him pay for that from time to time.

I said when we were down 2 with 2 minutes to go in the 3rd that we should rest LeBron. We don't...he plays he full qrt and the lead goes back up to 7. It forces him to sit the first couple mins of the 4th and lead went up to 11.

He's gotta sit, but we also gotta give him a reason to sit.

So yea if he goes to the Sixers, Rockets, etc maybe they will allow him to truly sit.

If he stays here we need a coach/roster that allows him to do that as well.

I agree he needs a regular season minutes restriction but for different reasons. We need to be able to operate without LeBron as a team. It can't be just one unit that basically tries to hold the flood gate from opening till LeBron gets back. The whole team needs to be able to go out there and play.

We need two PGs if not 3 that can be counted on to play smart and effective. That will play with pace and energy. I liked Hill's fit in the raptors series but with his age/salary and how he has played in the Celtic series so far, I wouldn't hesitate to move him. We need guys that will drive and kick. That will take pressure off LeBron.

Would you rather have Kyrie or Kawhi on that team, assuming both will come back from injury 100%?

And I thought sixers fans were ridiculous for not wanting LeBron because of Simmons.

If LBJ signs the max long term contract with us, what will his pay day look like?

How would that compare to what other teams can offer?

Didn't they change the contract terms to benefit the players signing longer term with their own teams or am I making this up?

Thanks!

Lack of another ball handler is killing us.

I agree with whoever said we might have been better off developing Clarkson as a starter. Let him be a very poor man's Kyrie, but at least have a familiar flow to last year's offense.

It is shameful that our offense has devolved into the Mike Brown isolation concepts of yesteryear. I love the hell out of some LeBron James but some of this falls on his shoulders and how he plays the game. A strong and good coach might have been able to adjust the offense better but even a guy like SPO (who I think is a younger good coach) had his issues with LBJ.

To get the rumor mill a'buzzin, a have a friend of mine who knows people in James's camp to a level. There are a bunch of his folks who are going out to LA as in the Lakers. I never gave that any weight but there is concepts in play saying it is the next step he wants to make in terms of "branding".

Lebrons too cool to try on defense attitude is pissing me off. I get he needs to conserve some energy but what’s the point of going all out of offense if you’re going to give it right back. If it’s not a highlight block he’s not interested.

Decent article on ESPN referencing the organizational fatigue. It feels like both sides need a fresh start. As long as he doesn't go to Philly or Houston, I'll be fine.

Spo has had a horrible offense for years. Heat fans on realgm.com have complained that LeBron hid Spo's flaws as an offensive coach.
While I agree he needs a better coach I think part of it is just bad luck. Blatt knew offense, but didn't know the NBA/personalities.

Lue won a championship so he's at least owed 2 more years from that (and he's proven to not be good)

LeBron speaks highly of Pop, Carlisle, Stevens, etc. So I think he'd do fine with a great coach.

The issue is would he let a guy develop into a great coach? That's tough to say. He wanted Spo gone because he wanted Riley to be the coach. LeBron choked that Mavs series away, but I find it hard to believe they would have still lost if Riley was the coach.

This is also why LeBron should be careful about the Sixers. Watching some of Bret Brown's blunders should make him cautious of going through that again.

I said something along those lines. If Lue had Clarkson in the Kyrie role of 2014-2015, where LeBron took the ball out of his hands and had him stop playing hero ball. Basically just taught him where to be effective and to play off each other for easy shots. I think Lue is just too stuck in his thinking that anything new or innovative will never happen while he is here.

I really hope we are in back channel talks with Mike Budenholzer and he is string along the Buck and Raptors as a backup plan. I think he would be a great head coach for us regardless if LeBron stays or not.

Still pissed we didn't go after Tyreke Evans. And I wonder if BKN is still interested in having their pick back for Dinwiddie?
