LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yeah I'm sure the Lakers are super pissed about landing the best basketball player in the world. LeBron is doing a documentary? That's where they should draw the line. Inexcusable.

I didn't mean for it to come off the way it did.

I'd much rather have LeBron than not have LeBron. But these movie deals are exactly the reason he is in LA and not CLE, HOU, or Philly. His eye is on the ultimate prize, and it's creating Billion dollar businesses, and not necessarily focused on winning championships. As I said weeks ago, if he wanted to stack titles, he'd be a Sixer or Celtic right now. There's a reason it was only really CLE or LA, and today's announcements just cements it, IMO.

I actually believe that the NBA would prefer the that the STARS play in the big market teams. Silver, Stern, LeBron and many others have been quoted as saying that the league is best when big market teams are doing well.

So I personally don't expect this to change.

But yes, a Franchise Tag system like the NFL would do wonders for Small Market teams. But it wont change.

I think it would depend on the type of team.

i remember the years when Detroit and San Antonio were the two dominant teams in the league. While I can respect the system they ran which focused on fundamentals and good defesne? It rarely made for the sort of "High flying" act that say, the Bulls, Lakers, and others had provided fans in years prior.

I would imagine had the "small market" sample been of a team like the pre-Durant Thunder or both eras of the LeBron era Cavs? That the point is somewhat moot.

Lebron would never have came back if kyrie wasnt here. It was a case of all the stars alligning at once.

At mia, wade was quickly dimininshing

Cavs his hometown had a young budding shoot first superstar in kyrie to make his life easier and also gets to complete the "fairy tale" for cleveland. Two birds one stone.

If we had never drafted kyrie and anthony bennett was our man, lebron would have gone to the lakers 4 years ago

For the people on Twitter trying to damage control and compare Cleveland fan (since I've only seen the one video since July 2010 and saw plenty of people with old jerseys when he came back) burning jerseys to someone spray painting a mural I don't think they're comparable. While I think the act of burning jerseys is silly, it's still something people paid their own money for. Vandalizing a mural someone spent time and effort to paint is just flat out disrespectful and yes someone in Miami did something similar when he left there in 2014.

Yeah. there was no new LeBron Cavs jersey yet, and that weekend after he announced his return, there was almost guaranteed to be someone in the crowd wearing his old jersey. Blew that whole "burning jerseys" crap into space as far as I'm concerned. Tried to make it some pathological Cleveland thing, where really I don't think the national media really understood the degree of hero-worship this guy got for being a GOAT from Akron. It's an "Ohio" thing that was at its highest magnitude. His return was one of the craziest things I've ever seen as a fan of any sport. And I loved being at Ground Zero. For that AND the 2016 Championship. The only thing comparable to the latter is when the Eagles won their Super Bowl earlier this year. and even then....

Honestly, I’m not sure the Lakers will be happy with the next 3 years. If the Lakers aren’t playing well, he’s going to get crushed by the LA fan base for not being “all in”. Some media members are already calling this the “retirement tour”.

This much I can see, if the basketball side of this arrangement goes south. They worship Kobe above all, as far as individual talents of recent import are concerned. They may have the best basketball player in the world right now but if that doesn't add on to the Lakers legacy, and instead goes the way of the Mike Brown, and later D'Antoni-helmed Lakers teams, well.... L-O-L. That mural defacement was only the beginning.

Yeah, definitely believe this. On both counts. Really sucks. But it also kind of adds a different dimension into how the 2011 Bulls were viewed. MVP Derrick Rose and all. I believe even the NBA was a little mad at the Miami Heat in that first season. And why the Spurs are indeed a rarity. And why Golden Piss is a convenient accident.

I’m almost positive Lebron hasn’t played his final game as a cav. I’m sure in his mind he’ll finish his career here even if it’s just one or two years.

You are going to see how he lives his life basically in reverse now. He and the family will live all year in LA, and then spend some time in the summer at his home in Bath to visit family, handle his local business, etc.

But he is building massive businesses that require him to be in LA. As time goes on, his roots in LA will deepen, and his time commitment will increase not decrease. I think it's a pipe dream he ever wears a CLE uniform again.

The only way he leaves the Lakers, is if he can play with Bronny. At that point, I think he'd sacrifice his last NBA season to play for the minimum in whatever city his son is at.

This is such a telling quote in my opinion. Makes me think the "decision cave" was really "lets see what changes we need to make to this lakers roster cave".

But why? He did what he promised here as a player. He is now building a life in LA for the foreseeable future. If anything I can see him coming back later in life as an owner or in the front office. See no reason for him to come back for his final year or two unless he really wants his Kobe going away party where he waves his hand, bows, and chucks shots for a year.

Yeah....

I don't think people are understanding the significance/gravity around trying to build Springhill and Klutch into Multi-Billion dollar businesses.

His career in CLE is done. As owner of those two businesses, his time off the court will be spent building up those companies. He is going to live in LA permanently when his career is finished. He'll keep his house in Bath to visit in the off-season, but his year-round residency is LA now.

Could he own an NBA franchise and live in LA? I guess.....but I don't see it. I don't think he is wired that way. He views owners as exploitative of the players. It's why he'll likely finish his career with 3 rings instead of 5,6, or more. He refuses to take less while super teams pop-up all around him with guys sacrificing their full value.

I feel all these behind-the-scenes articles are just covering up the tampering. The idea that Magic waited in a car for an hour while Marla and Lakers management were in the dark is just asinine.

Also when I saw the photo of the Lakers contact signing, I thought along with his Beats, LeBron's hat had flames from Blaze Pizza instead of a crown. Would have been more appropriate. Clearly Rich dropped the ball there hence the frown.

When insiders talk about signs from 1-2 years ago that signaled LeBron to LA, Blaze Pizza getting a contract at Staples Center is one clue. Of all the pizza vendors in the US, for Blaze to get that real estate and contract, was quite eye-brow raising.

But good for them....
