So Long, David Nwaba

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
As mentioned in the Dekker thread, if just one of these guys with a great floor game but iffy shooting catches on to what Channing and Korver are preaching with their mechanics, look out.

I don't see any issue with Nwaba's mechanics. He is so fast, I guess it is a matter of him taking more 3's. Def see him as a keeper compared to Dekker. The one thing I did like about Dekker was his perimeter D. He guards the perimeter like a SF and he is big.

Nwaba is going to get the bulk of SF backup minutes IMO. Korver is going to go sometime I am sure.

With Korvers skill and contract he should have good value come deadline to a contender. Everyone needs another shooter
Everyone needs a Competent PG as well like George Hill. Another good contract at deadline
Also TT will have value if we take back a equally bad contract and a young player with good potential
No idea on JR guess we have to see how he fares all year.

Maybe I'm going a little overboard on this but,
Nwaba should be part of the rotation. He helps on both ends of the court. He may be the best athlete on the team.

I am pretty curious if you can play him at the 4. Seems crazy, but he is long as hell and he was mixing it up rebounding. Very weird unique player, and yeah I can't believe how athletic he looks. He seems to play very smart as well. I thought he was going to be much more raw

I see him as a true 2-3 swing who can play the 4 in a small lineup. And he definitely looks like a core rotation player on this roster. I think he's an emerging NBA starter and he plays hungry as hell.

Everyone seemed to recognize immediately that he could be effective. Hope we didn't fuck it up by not offering him enough guaranteed money. He did not want a partial guaranteed contract he said because I think he didn't want to become trade fodder 2 years from now.

I think the contract worked out pretty great for the Cavs.

Notes:
  • Nwaba is on a min salary contract, so he gives the Cavs more financial options this year to work under the salary cap
  • Since he's a third year player who has never accepted a qualifying offer, he'll be a restricted free agent next summer.
  • Cavs will probably have more than the MLE to offer free agents next year, but thanks to the "Gilbert Arenas" provision, even if the Cavs only have the MLE available next year, they can't be outbid for Nwaba.
  • If Nwaba gets offered more than the MLE next year, that means he will have played awesome this year, which is a good problem to have.

Oh forgot about the rfa of a third year nice.

Lue said today that he envisions Nwaba being a part of the rotation. This is the second concept I've loved hearing out of Lue. (the other being Rodney Hood being the number two guy scoring wise)

You NEED guys like Nwaba on the court and guys like Nwaba find their way onto the court as well.

I thought Nwaba played pretty solid last night . He logged in some quality minutes with TT and Frye as well and it gave us the appearance of a solid frontcourt.

He missed a couple opportunities to pick up open opponents on the perimeter but he was active on the boards, facilitated well and was drawing contact

Is this guy ever going to get playing time? Are Hood or JR that much better than him?
He couldn't even get playing time during our "youth movement" that lasted three games.

Just want to say that this guy is:

Stronger than I thought
A better handler than I thought
A better finisher than I thought
and more willing to take the 3 than I thought.

Really if Cedi and Sexton can both take steps on offense, I would love to have him as the 2 of the future. He just defends like crazy. Those who were saying he really didn't have much impact or wasn't as good as advertised on D were wrong. He is an impact defender.

I know they are really different sizes, but he seems like the steal we got this year instead of Dekker.

Haven't watched much.

Is he basically Jeff Green?
