I cannot fathom a plausible situation where the Cavs move Kevin love until the off-season. I mean, are ANY of you eager for Hassan Whiteside on a flip flop?

My criteria for moving Love is the Jimmy Butler to Minnesota trade. I want two kids I think can play and one of them should/could be a potential star.

Bleacher report has article claiming nuggets are interested in love. What can they give us back?

They could give us Michael Porter Jr. I would want more than just him because he is coming off his second back injury. We would rush him back though and is probably a better prospect than anyone would would get for Love if MPJ can stay healthy.

If you dislike how bad the team looks with Collin Sexton's lack of passing and playmaking, you give him time with Love. That was the original plan, and Cavs fans really never saw it come to fruition.

I get that but let's say we get Millsap and MPJ plus picks from Denver for Love. Millsap could help Sexton just like Love could and he has a team option for 2019-2020 which can be picked up or decline based on how much he helps Sexton. MPJ is a good prospect for the future and doesn't hurt our tank this year or next.

For me, it's something Koby has to listen to. Sexton, MPJ, and this year's draft pick plus Cedi, Nance, Nwaba, etc is a very good core to develop. We can flip Millsap at the deadline next year.

I just can't imagine Denver thinking it would be a good idea to pair the Joker with Love: yeah it would be nice on offense but on defense team would feast on the matchup

Love's age and contract make it very unlikely that we'll get a ton of return for him

My view with Love is this, at this point.....

If we are invested in Sexton, Love seems crucial to his development. The spacing, P&R, gravity is what Collin really needs as he hits the rookie wall. So more hand holding player development approach, you just need Kevin to help bring him along.

Survival of the fittest PD approach, you just trade him Love whatever you can get. Wipe out of the cap with short term contracts and take back 1-2 marginal young pieces. Higher risk of Sexton spinning out but you bank assets and just buck shot the roster with as many young guys as possible.

I'd opt for #1, as I think we'll be plenty bad enough to accrue young players and picks......and the positive effect Love should have on Sexton specifically is not worth trading for assets, that I think, will be inconsequential in the grand scheme of things.

Assuming Love's health, would be the most devastating playmaking big man tandem in the league.

With Denver's spacing, they would be absolutely unstoppable on offense with Love and Jokic.

They also have the right combination of defensive personnel to sprinkle around Love with Plumlee as their 3rd big.

If you absorb Lyles minutes with someone like Love, while also giving Plumlee the ability to expend more energy in his, that becomes a scary, scary team.

Millsap, MPJ, and a 1st for Love makes a ton of sense for everybody involved whether we like to admit it or not.

MPJ is a young piece with potential in which our medical staff could really help get him healthy.... Millsap contract keeps us in a perfect position to have an abundance of cap
Space in 2-3 years which was the original plan. A 1st is just an added gift since it’ll be a late 1st rounder.

Love and Jokic would be so insanely dominant offensively with Murray, Harris, and Barton rounding out the starting 5. They can mix/match minutes with Plumlee or another shot blocking center they acquire to make the defensive side work for a big portion of the game.

I’m a Kevin Love fan, but I’d be all over this trade if they can extract that much.

That's an awful lot to give up for Love especially since Millsap has been pretty good for them.

My guess is that Denver would want Burks or Hood also for wing depth. I think our front office and Gilbert would probably like to add salary with Love so we don't hit luxury tax. This is where the second round picks we have added could help make a bigger deal like this work.

Love is also 3.5+ years younger than Millsap.

Millsap’s numbers have declined in an abundance of categories this year and his minutes are starting to trend down as well. He’s even been coming off the bench for them lately, but that could be because he just got back from a minor injury.

He has been playing some SF for them but Hernangomez seems to be filling that spot more efficiently. Will Barton is due back soon and that takes more minutes at the SF position while their PF’s remains fairly weak with Lyles and Plumlee. It’s definitely the one clear spot that needs an upgrade on a very talented team.

If they’re looking for a little more depth and the Cavs want to get under the luxury tax, something along the lines of:

Millsap, Lyles, MPJ, 1st ($35.5 million coming to Cleveland)

For

Love, Burks, Hood ($39.1 million going out)

.... would make a ton of sense for both teams

The Nuggets trade scenario is interesting. They are one of the five teams that have called about him, so I guess it's not completely out of the realm of possibility:

Still have a few friends out there in the NBA analytical world and I had an interesting conversation with one who intimated the Nets were also kicking the tires on Love.

They have salary matching assets in Crabbe, who's been out an extended period of time and they're currently in the 9th seed in the East. He has a player option left that he will surely pick up but he's a large expiring asset next year. The 1st they would convey would likely not be in the lottery (and would be heavily protected) but it is a good asset.

I don't know that the Cavs have the appetite for some combo of salary dump plus a mid 1st for someone like Love but I was told it was out there. Cavs could shed all of Love's future salary and reduce their payroll by around $12 million over the next 18 months.

I'm more luke warm on just something like the 15th to 17th pick back for Love but maybe others are more excited by BK at least sniffing around.
