Well, to promote some additional discussions while we wait for the coordinators to be hired...

The hiring cycle is just about complete--

AZ: Kingsbury
CIN: Taylor
CLE: Kitchens
DEN: Fangio
GB: LaFleur
MIA: Richard/Flores
NYJ: Gase
TB: Arians

Given who has been hired, believe the Browns have to feel pretty good about who they got...

Aside from Arians, which I understand wasn't as attractive due to worries about longevity, Kitchens was on equal footing with any of the first time candidates and his work with Baker likely put it over the top... In addition, I believe going offense was the right move to help promote stability for the most important relationship in the organization: QB & HC...

Just like any of these hires, coordinators will play a large part in their success but I think most of us can rest assured they got the main decision right..

The argument for McCarthy could have been made, and been a valid one... I'm curious as to why Pete Carmichael Jr. didn't get any interviews as well...

Once the college coaches decided to stay put, I'm glad the Browns recognized what had and didn't let Kitchens go...

We’ll soon find out who was desperately trying to ride trends and who actually found a good coach who can connect with their team.

Everyone is trying to find the next McVey and he ain’t out there.

No concerns with Dorsey influencing the coordinator hires?

Not really. Dorsey presumably has more professional connections than Freddie at this point, allowing him to interview candidates that he might not normally have access to by himself.

I believe Freddie is still ultimately going to decide who to fill out his staff with - Dorsey is simply assisting in the process, giving input, etc.

If he doesn’t work out, we’ll just hire a new coach in 2 years, anyway.

Hope Dorsey can get Kafka out of KC. He’s being talked about as the next hot coach. Would be nice to get him as an OC/qb coach. Tom Melvin is their TE coach maybe we can poach him. He’s done some great work. He’s been with Andy forever.

Why does everyone keep saying this? What has McVey achieved? He over took a good tea that drastically underachieved.

Jim Bob was allergic to the running game in Detroit.

...and Phil Collins is gangsta as fuck.

As a middle aged white guy who listened to way too much Phil Collins in the 80’s - and who also loves hip hop and especially bone thugs - I can’t believe I didn’t know this existed. I honestly would never have believed it without video evidence. Made my month!!

I think it was just the way he has handled himself and the team in general. He brought a spark and attitude to the team and seems like a solid head coach for years to come even though he had no experience running an NFL team.

I think they all want that diamond in the rough that can lead their teams to the promise land!

Not sure if I would like him as the OC to be honest. He never seemed to get anything out of any of his RBs (outside of last season always at the bottom of the league in rushing yards) then almost always in the bottom part of offense overall. May not always be his fault, but not someone I want as an OC.

In all fairness, his RBs sucked terribly. There isn't a lot an OC can do when the likes of Ameer Abdullah have the field vision of Stevie Wonder.

Line was bad too.

FYI - that video is some shitty remix.

Here is the real version:

I feel obligated to post the version that actually has Phil Collins in it, lol.

Always loved Layzie Bone's verse at the start of the song. The flow.

That's why I said it wasn't all his fault, but I don't even recall him trying to use the run game a lot. I am not sure if he's a fit scheme wise with Kitchens at the end of the day or not. I know kitchens is likely to be calling the plays as well, but you still need an OC, that runs a similar style of scheme so there isn't confusion and issues between the two guys and in the locker room.

I didn't look carefully at the video I posted... I was in the middle of teaching a class to be honest. I remember working at a social work teen center with some inner city teens watching BET as we waited for their parents to show up and the original video came on. It's still probably in my top 50 songs I've ever heard. I had a lot of Phil Collins in my life as a little kid, and there he was in a video with my favorite rap group in my 20s.

The Detroit sports media have really hated Jim Bob Cooter, the disappointment in him only a little bit less than what they expressed about Matthew Stafford. 2018 was particularly awful, and only 2016 was above average in his four-year tenure. It's true that the cupboard was pretty much bare this year.
