Cavs draft workouts

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Wait did you say the Suns would offer the Bucks pick,,6 and 32 to move up one spot?
Thats crazy they would never give up that much to go up one spot.
for Garland gaining up 1 spot at price of a high 2nd in a weak class and a late first isn't a lot at all.

I'd be all over that if they offered it.
Yeah I might even ask for more than that and just take Garland and shop him after the draft if they didn't fork over Mikal or Jackson.

What I've always wondered is if the opposing GM discusses what player they are targeting when trading up. Like it has to have an effect on what the asking price ends up being. I could see Koby taking less for #5 to #6 if he knew for sure he could turn #6 to #8 and #10. He might net alittle more by parlaying the #5 pick into two trades.

It will be interesting to see what Kolby does in this "weak draft".

This team is not going anywhere I could see them adding multiple picks.

I wonder if Atlanta would go #5 and #26 for #8, #10, #17, and #35

Cavs get:

#8 Reddish
#10 Goga
#17 Romeo Langford
#35 Ty Jerome

Heck we could even flip JR to Miami for #13 and end up with a whole lineup of rookies :02.47 tranquillity:

I doubt Atlanta would do 8/10 for 5/26, much less 8/10/17/35.

at the end of the day this draft was Zion/Ja or Bust so anyone they take at 5 isn't necessarily going to be that much better of a player than one at 8 10 or even 17 out of the gate AND long term unless they gamble on high ceiling types that could become that player long term instead of those who's skills were more refined but are closer to their ceiling and the ceiling is lower. If Hawks are set on a safer option like Culver or Hunter they might do 5 for 8 and 17 but not 8 and 10.
The only way Cavs guarantee a high ceiling option is at 5 unless teams at 6 and 7 take players at positions of need instead of doing the same. I think when it's all said and done the only way they hit on somebody at 5 is if they pick like they are at 12 with more risk worth the gamble in most drafts where the player is less proven but has elite upside based on age, time playing the game and intangibles.
I could definitely see Nas Little ,KPJ and Sekou having a higher % chance of turning out as better pros drafted to a team in a full rebuild that is patient if they work and get to their ceiling than others like Culver,Hunter,White or anyone else most mocks project going 5th.
Atlanta isn't giving up 4 picks for a 3 spot climb in this draft unless Barrett is available at which point no way Cavs pull the trigger on that trade.
Also don't see Cavs wanting 4 players from this draft.
If Culver is gone I will be extremely happy if they take Sekou or Bol at 5 and one of Brazdeikis , Windler or Cam Johnson at 26.
I will be even happier if they also get the 13 or 16 from Miami or Orlando for Smith and grab Herro,Romeo or Alexander-Walker

Hunter has the highest floor but the lowest ceiling. We need someone with a higher ceiling. Draft Culver. Reddish would be my next choice, but he also more of a high risk high reward than Culver.

of course they do :
I call you and say hey buddy I know you want this kid (Garland) what is the offer, because I will just draft him and the price will go up next month? If they balk, call Chicago ; hey you want Garland or White your going to have to jump over Phoenix because i'm taking Garland and flipping him at a higher cost later.
Bidding war starts or Koby justs hang up the phone and drafts Garland. 5 minutes later he gets calls from Phoenix and Chicago and other teams trying to trade for him

Yeah Culvers ceiling is higher than Hunter but not much higher. Sekou,KPJ,Little,Reddish and Bol all have the highest ceilings at 5 with zion,ja,barrett and garland gone

I think it all depends on the Hawks draft board and the tiers they have players in. Let's say their tiers are this.

1. Zion
2. Morant/Barrett
3. Garland/Culver
4. Hunter/Reddish/White
5. Hayes/Clarke/Hachimura

Maybe they see moving up for Culver at #5 as moving up a tier or even two and #10 isnt in the same tier as #8. Basically giving up players that is in their 4th and 5th tier for someone they see in tier 2 or 3.

When the smoke clears, I believe Culver will go 4th, not Garland. It sounds like the Pelicans are likely to end up with that pick and they already have a solid point guard, in Jrue Holiday.

That said, there are also rumors that David Griffin does not want to rebuild and that he may try to flip the #4 pick for an All Star-caliber player. I wonder if Griff might offer that pick for a player like Kevin Love or Bradley Beal?

How about this for a crazy scenario, for n which Griff is reunited with Kevin Love:

To LA: Anthony Davis
To N.O.: Kevin Love, Brandon Ingram, & #10 pick
To ATL: #4 pick, #26 pick
To CLE: #8 & #17 picks, Mo Wagner, Solomon Hill

It might not be that exact trade, but I could see something along those lines going down. The Cavs would then have the #5, #8, & #17 picks and be poised to do sone serious damage. As an alternative, we could ask the Hawks back for our 2020 pick, instead of getting the #17 pick.

Holiday is a 2 guard though despite being able to handle pg. They also have Payton but doubtful they are going to let his presence stop them from interest in Garland, keeping Jrue at his true position off ball. I do think Culver could be their preference if they are not high n Garland though given Culver is also a versatile guard like Jrue so it will be interesting if the Pels get 4th.
If Lakers keep it the common expectation is Garland or Hunter are the most likely pick for a win now Lebron roster.

I respectfully disagree. Jrue averaged 7.7 assists per game this past year...he’s a point guard.

I agree with you on Garland or Hunter being the pick if the Lakers keep it. However, indications are that they’re likely to move it, in which case the pick would likely be Culver or Garland.
