Kawhi Leonard deserves his own thread.

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He quit on his team (spurs so I don;t give a fuck) no doubt about that and his uncle is asshole, and his a big time pussy since he let's said crazy uncle dictate his life, but he has game that's for sure.

Tough to argue that now after recent events and Durant's injury. It's beginning to look like he did what was best for his health, and then got out of an organization that didn't make his well being a top priority.

Also worth mentioning is that he may be the only player in the league who doesn't throw a conniption whenever a foul is called on him.
That's because he more than gets the benefit of the doubt on the other end. 12 FTA/game this series is asinine, inexplicable and unconscionable when you look at how LeBron was reffed every series against these assholes.

I think he is getting fewer than he should especially last game, but yeah they are guarding hims the same way, hacking him every damn drive.

I'll admit I didn't pay close attention to Kawhi's game until this postseason. I mean, I knew he was good and his style but I never locked in on him the way you do for a centerpiece star. He's really impressive. His incredibly long arms and giant hands are that extra superpower edge that lifts him up to being a potential all-time great. He covers the space of two players on defense, and he effortlessly extends his arms above defenders to make midrange shots. He is incredibly smooth out there, one of those players who does not really give the sensation of effort when he's dominating a game. Taking him out of the San Antonio system has made it easier to appreciate his individual skills.

I did not think he was such a deadly iso player that is for sure.

agreed. Kawhi was getting LeBronned out there this series. Hacked all over the place, few whistles. Two guys had a hand on him on the replay.

Impossible not to like this guy.

Why NBA star Kawhi Leonard still drove a 20-year-old car after signing a $94 million contract

Article headline is a bit misleading, shocker.

He has a Porsche and bout a 13 million dollar home. He also calls the Tahoe "rehabbed" meaning he probably keeps it and drives it for sentential reasons. He probably did a resto-mod on the car. Still cool and love him as a player, but some major holes are missing from the story like maybe a picture of the car?

Really interest article/interview with Kawhi Leonard explaining the process, and why he signed with the Clips. It's long, and there's a lot of good stuff so I'm only going to post one excerpts. But three big takeaways:

1) This is the kind of explanation that makes it much easier for fans to accept why he left Toronto. It's honest, and he's not trying to "sell" anyone anything. The mere fact that he was willing to sit down and talk about all this means a lot. Unlike some others who will remain nameless....

2) From his perspective - he wasn't stringing anyone along, or misleading any of the other teams. He was actually engaging in the process in the way it is supposed to work. Without secret, back-channeling dealing prior to the date on which you can legally talk with free agents. So the only reason he looked (to some) like a manipulative drama queen for "dragging this out" was because he was actually doing everything above board, and in the right way. And along with that....

3) Huge dig at the Lakers:

Everybody knew where I wanted to play last year during the trade, and it was the Lakers or Clippers and wanting to come back home,” Leonard told Yahoo Sports. “Once we were able to get [Paul] to be a part of this with me, I already knew he wanted to play at home, too. I felt like it was a great opportunity. I trusted the front office for the most part when I went through the process. They did everything right, just letting me play ball and not trying to call anyone’s cell phone. They took the right steps of doing it the legal way and waited until they were able to talk to me, and I liked that about them.

Awesome stuff overall.

It's fine that he took his time, it's his right. It sucks for us as fans of the league because we want to know everything as fast as we want but he did nothing wrong there. but to say he didn't do anything below the table... Paul George just happened to ask for a trade at the same time right?

Here's what he said:

“S---, I guess I need a front-office position if that’s what happened,” Leonard told Yahoo Sports. “They’re saying I was the architect of the deal. I’ll say this: players talk, and when I talked to the Clippers, they had certain players they thought they could pair with me before I signed. His name was on the board, and I said I would love to play with him. They made the opportunity happen in probably two to three days later. I was close to signing with other teams, but once they told me that this deal was on the table, I jumped for it.”

We really can't know exactly how this went down. There's a least two possible scenarios:

1) Clips mentioned to Leonard "we're going to see if OKC will trade George." Leonard calls his buddy, says "hey, the Clips are going to try to trade for you", and then George decides to force the matter by demanding a trade. In that case, I think Leonard is blameless.

2) Clips mentioned to Leonard "we're going to see if OKC will trade George." Leonard calls his buddy, says "hey, why don't you demand a trade and force your way here? Clips are willing to pay for it", and George is on board. In that case, I think Leonard did something wrong.

But we don't really know how it went down.
