The "What are you playing now?" Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Required. And it’s kind of corny how that keeps happening but I just kind of looked past it. In one of the regions though, it’s actually very well explained and leads to one of the stronger story moments. Don’t wanna spoil it.

I actually like the idea that what you do in an open world game has consequences. You cause enough damage, they come and find you. It's a nice change from the traditional set-up where, regardless of how much havoc you cause, the story moves at your pace. It may be a bit silly that you're so easily caught each time, but at least it's something different from a genre that's beyond stale at this point.

Yeah, it wasn't a major complaint of mine, it was just very contrived. But like I said, it's done differently enough in each region, and in one in particular there is a very good explanation for it that was probably the high point for the entire game plot-wise, so I just accepted it.

Anyhow, my campaign took about 30 hours but I could easily have done 50+, there is so much fucking shit to do in this game. As you noted, the Resistance Points setup was nice. You can go back and keep playing after you beat the game which is nice, too. I'll probably wait for the DLC to play again, to be honest, because 30 hours is a lot for me in one game and I have tons of others to get to. The DLC content looks very cool for FC5 though.

I also found the Guns For Hire system to be a really nice change for the series. The Specialists all brought something unique to the table and I ended up having one with me for the majority of missions/outposts, and they never once really hindered me or annoyed me in any way. In some cases, they were crucial.

I just really love this series, and I get that it isn't for everyone. I'm already wondering what setting they will choose for the next game. Tonally, these games are indeed all over the place and story is definitely their weak point. Yet somehow they manage to get me invested every time. I don't play a lot of FPS anymore for reasons you specifically stated- it's gotten stale. For some reason, I keep coming back to Far Cry. It's just pure unadulterated fun, and we can spend hours breaking down the "message" the developers want to convey with this series, if any, because there are a lot of interpretations out there (spent an hour reading others' thoughts on the endings, and no shock at all it was pretty polarizing). Especially after the batshit insane ending(s) of FC5. But at the end of the day as a video game, I had a blast.

High hopes that the Vietnam DLC includes some fucking bladed melee weapons, though.

I'm only a few minutes into God of War but holy shit, this game is already insane. Feels so good to be back with Kratos.

First 20 minutes spoiler:

That fight with The Stranger ... :chuckle: Felt like something out of Man of Steel and I loved every second of it.

Dude that fight was so good. This is the best game I've ever played.

Haven't stopped playing since I posted, game just gets better and better. It's clear that that early review that broke embargo was basically a troll review, or that guy has shit taste. This game is fucking boss.

Anyone play Tower of Time? Thinking about picking it up after I get through Dragon Age.

Been watching a YouTube no commentary playthrough of it and it looks great. Still remember playing GoW3 the first time. Man, that game was ridiculous.

Love the originals. I honestly liked 1 and 2 more but 3 was pretty insane with some of its kills. :chuckle:

Yes that fight had me hooked. This is my first GOW game, and first PlayStation I have owned since PS1. (Xbone fan. lol) So glad I made the decision by buy this.

The graphics of this game on 4K (w/o HDR) have been AMAZING...even gameplay looks like CGI.

I just reached the first blue brother that upgrades weapons.

Yeah, I'm a bit further. Didn't get to play all weekend, was with the gf, but I'm back in action today. It just gets better. I agree, it looks stunning in 4K. I keep stopping to admire the views. :chuckle:

About 20-25 I think, if you just focus main story.

What else is there to do?

I mean I try to explore all areas for resources, but I doubt that adds THAT much more time.

PS- I put it on easy difficulty cause I'm not that coordinated. I mean I'm still have trouble pressing the wrong L button (L2vsR2) during an intense fight. I was a hot mess when fighting the Stranger, lol.

There are side quests

Yeah, I'm playing on Normal and haven't been too challenged yet, but I am kind of a rookie with the PS4 controller. Played all the original God of War games but that was a decade ago.

I just went and researched online, and apparently its a lot more RPG and Open World than originally expected. Thats sweet. Was not expecting that, but very happy because I love games that have those elements.

Also, speaking of the PS4 controller, I'm finding the right joystick to be a little slippery. For some reason my thumb keeps sliding down to the bottom right edge of the stick head. I wonder if its cause the right thumb is used a lot to press all the action buttons as well as control the camera?!!
