#11 Ohio State vs. #13 Michigan State

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
No, this is "internet football fan fallacy 101". Plays work better, so it must be some sort of change in play calling.

No, they are just executing better. And MSU looks drunk.
Yeah, you're just way off. It's okay though. Try pointing me to another game we ran the ball 75% of the time and I'll believe you.

When you can't find that, try pointing me to a game where we ran the ball 75% of the time at any point in the game beyond one or two possessions.

When you can't find that, take the L and move on.

Why so snarky? Also, logic fail.

We're over 10 yards a carry when you take away the bad snap. If we averaged 10 yards a carry we'd probably run it 75% of the time a ton. If a simple draw and inside zone got us 130 yards on 2 carries, we'd run it 75% of the time.

Dobbins has been the best freshman RB in OSU history and is near the top of yards per carry in all of College Football. If we went into games pounding the rock like we did today, we'd have seen different games this season.

Is this a refute?

Ooof...this is huber levels of bad
:chuckle:

-Urban says the RBs need more carries
-75% of plays in the 1st half are runs

(Against a team that allows 80 rush yards per game, by the way.)

Nothing to see here, obviously. I'm sure he'll even say something about their change in gameplan/playcalling in the postgame. No difference at all though. Our eyes are lying, the numbers are lying, and the Coach himself is lying.

So is your argument that because we're running it more we are running it more effectively? Like, if we just had forced the ball to Weber and Dobbins, we'd be running as effectively as we are this week?

Yep, he'll say "We chose to run for 10+ yards a carry this week, as opposed to other weeks when we ran the same plays but told the players we only want 6 yard a carry."

Absolutely.

Not necessarily as effective, but more effectively, yes.

Other weeks they ran the same plays, with significantly less frequency and Dobbins still averaged almost 8 yards a carry despite being grossly underutilized before today.

Absolutely.

So if you run the ball more, efficiency will automatically rise. Got it.

It often does.

Like in basketball, some players struggle if they don't have the ball in their hands a lot and aren't getting a lot of shots up.

The Ohio State offense often struggles (against teams with a pulse) when the RBs are underutilized. Penn State this year was the exception, not the rule.

In 2015, when everybody started complaining about OSU abandoning the running game, OSU was 16th in country, running the ball over 62% of the time. Last year, when everybody bitched about the offense, they ran it 57% of the time, which was 37th.

This year, when their offense is objectively better than the last 2 years, they are almost 50-50 (51% run coming into today).

So, I completely reject this notion that we have to run the ball.

In 2015, they abandoned the RBs against MSU. They lost. They fed the RBs against Michigan and Notre Dame. They won.

They abandoned the RBs in both losses. Just like against MSU in 2015. And VT in 2014. And MSU in 2013. Etc.
