#185 - Caleb Brantley, DT, Florida

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
For anyone who actually bothered to read the final clarification report from the police, there are a number of things that stand out.

1) The female involved was extremely intoxicated.
2) All her friends were also very intoxicated but the so-called victim was in worse shape than her friends.
3) Brantley was sitting there, sober, waiting to give his female friend a ride home and the so-called victim and her friends completely instigated this.
4) The so-called victim was the one who initiated violence, going after Brantley while he was trying to walk away.
5) Brantley by his own admission made contact with the so-called victim in an attempt to "get her out of his space", which is 100% within his rights in FLA.
6) The so-called victim was too drunk to remember what happened or to give a believable or verifiable version of her story.
7) The stories of the so-called victim's friends were not consistent, did not match up.
8) The story Brantley gave from the beginning matched what eye witnessed said including at least one witness who was otherwise uninvolved and did not know Brantley. The other statements that agreed with Brantley's version was from people who knew him.
9) The so-called injuries to the so-called victim appear to have been greatly exaggerated if there even were any injuries at all. The victim was not "knocked out". There is video of her and her friends walking away shortly after the incident. There was no medical help requested or called.
10)Brantley was sober and wasn't out partying that night.
11) In the video of the females walking away one of them apologizes to either Brantley or his friends.
12) The attorney for the so-called victim tried to get Brantley to pay her a cash settlement in the days after it happened which was emphatically rejected by Brantley and his attorney.

Add to that - Brantley knew it was a few weeks before the NFL draft.

How on earth could anyone say Brantley did anything wrong that night? This was not "inconclusive proof" or anything remotely in that universe. This was clearly an extremely intoxicated female and her intoxicated friends stirring up shit then trying to get paid when she found out he was about to enter the NFL.Nothing more, nothing less.

If anything Brantley should sue her for extortion but no doubt he just wants this all behind him. As has been mentioned it has already cost him millions.

For all I know Brantley could be a POS or whatever but he clearly wasn't on that night, he was the only victim.

The Browns benefited greatly from this and good for them. I hope it all works out for Brantley and it will as long as he does his part. In this matter he does not need a second chance, he should get an apology.

He won't get paid what his probable worth is until his second contract. He'll never make up the money he lost that night.

He could have dropped out of the 2nd just based on the lack of motor in the scouting report He is a 1st round talent but taking plays off is a huge red flag.

That said, huge steal for Browns in 6th round and I do feel bad for him as he really did nothing wrong that night at all.

I'm very impressed with Sashi and the team's handling of all this.

Not only did they do their homework on the likely outcome of the case and take this young man before anyone else, but they also laid some ground work to save face should things go bad by saying they'd cut ties immediately.

Clearly, Brantley has been told that he will be expected to be a model citizen to remain on this team. Sure, we can say he didn't do much to blame on that night, but it's never bad to have a guy whose eyes have been opened.

The Browns unfairly took a lot of heat by drafting Brantley. Especially when the Mixon and Westbrook picks received little to no criticism. The difference, both of those guys had actually been charged in their scenarios and Brantley hadn't even been charged.

It's just irresponsible when the media gets on its high-horse and chastises a team and a young man without all the facts. They truly have the power to control the minds of many of the sheep who watch. Next thing you know, Brantley is guilty and the Browns should be ashamed of themselves according to the court of public opinion.

Brantley very well could be a piece of shit, and I know he comes with character concerns. However, both Brantley and the Browns deserve some credit here.

Glad he got cleared of the charges, but I have other reservations about Caleb. He's got character red flags that have nothing to the poor judgement that he showed by hanging arround a bar at closing with a bunch of drunks, and I can't quite shake the perception that he's got some history with the ladies in question form that night. He's got a long way to go to show that he can handle NFL money & lifestyle without making a Manziel out of himself.

We don't know this...for sure...very possible he did something wrong!

Well if this event doesnt wake him up. (Cost him milions), then nothing will. I think ge comes out hard to prove his worth, so he can cash in on tge next contract.. in any case Browns took a chance at 6th round, that has already paid off. If he does not make the starting line up, but has enough to project there, you could trade him for more than a sixth round..

Wake him up to what?
If your concern is about him showing up to the combine out of shape or some of the other things that dropped him to a 2nd round projection instead of a first round. then its a valid concern.

She was not assumed to be the victim

Initially Brantly was the victim and treated as such. He declined to pursue charges.

Bitch sobers up, then she goes and files victim papers. Zero evidence.

The police and court then have a legal obligation to investigate and file initial charges.

I have as much a problem with a Bitch filing false charges as I do if Brantly punched her. This is a series issue and we dont need women trying to take financial advantage of an innocent athlete.

So yeah, fuck her, she wasn't hurt, she started it, and she was completely acting like a Ho. Brantley;s reputation is still harmed and for nothing.

By calling her a bitch and ho, you articulate your point and come across as a rational person.

Wake him up to the fact thst now he is a celebrity target. Hangin in places where he is just a guy, is over. Needs to conrol his environment and stay focused on his job.. this particular event, even though he was not apparently at fault, dropped him from 2nd to sixth round, and put himself under tge microscope.. he needs to avoid bad situations

A requirement of being an NFL player isn't to never be at a bar at closing time. Do you guys really think all of these guys just stay in at all times during the offseason? He doesn't need to show better judgement. He didn't do anything wrong

Way too much victim blaming going on in here. He isn't required to live his entire life in a bubble. He didn't do anything wrong. He didn't use a first chance. Charges are gone.

Let's just move on. He is a Cleveland brown now and that's all I care about

Lots of people feel like athletes are just objects there for their entertainment and should be kept in cryo stasis in between games so that they don't get hurt/get in trouble and ruin the entertainment of the fans. Sad that some don't see them as actual people. Very sad!

Yeah, shame on him for being a designated driver giving his friend a ride home from the bar.
