2016-17 NBA Coaching Carousel

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Question is -- will Phil let Jeff run his own style, or does Phil want him to run the triangle?
Does Hornacek have any experience with the triangle? I'd hate to see that two day seminar go to waste. :chuckle:

He has experience losing to it
Jeff Van Gundy no longer candidate for Rockets job
Pro Basketball Talk "Favorite to out of consideration – the story of Jeff Van Gundy and the 2016 Rockets’ coaching search. Van Gundy was reportedly viewed favorably by Houston general manager Daryl Morey, less so by owner Leslie Alexander. And that’s how it works. The owner is in charge. Attention now turns to..." Mike D'Antoni to interview with Rockets owner Leslie Alexander
ESPN "Veteran NBA coach Mike D'Antoni has landed a second interview with Houston and is an increasingly serious candidate for the Rockets' coaching vacancy, according to league sources. Sources told ESPN.com that D'Antoni, who is currently serving as associate head coach for the Philadelphia 76ers,..." May 18

Would have prefered Vogel but I'm satisfied. I thought he did a good job in Phoenix with a limited roster.

NBA GMs are stupid for not hiring Vogel. Probably because he doesn't fit the macho coach image. He is the best coach available though.

Reportedly Vogel (or his agent) is asking for a considerable amount of money to coach a team. His resume and track record speaks for himself and they know how much he’s worth.

I’d do the same thing if I were in his position. Coaching vacancies are so common in this sport, one of these teams will bite sooner or later.

so If Offered does Blatt take Houston or Memphis or pass on both

Bad choice in my worthless opinion. But I really think the Magic aren't going anywhere.

Why? It's amazing what he did in Indiana, and the players loved him. And it's not just regular season. He is an excellent playoffs coach. What else can you ask for?

Yeah I meant bad choice for Vogal. Orlando is on the treadmill. Even more so now that they got a good coach that will keep them from landing a good draft pick.

so whats gonna be the expectations for these coaches for their first year.
Nets- Kenny Atkinson
Twolves- Tom Thibodaeu
Wizards- Scott Brooks
Lakers- Luke Walton
Kings-Joerger
Rockets-Mark D'antonio
Pacers-Nate Mcmilian
Grizzlies-David Fizdale
Orlando-Frank Vogel
Knicks-Jeff Hornacek
Pacers, Rockets, Grizzlies, Wizards, Kings I would think the expectations would be the playoffs
Pacers, Rockets, Wizards and Grizzlies would be to advance in the first round
Twolves, Orlando, Nets, Lakers and Knicks would not have such expectations.

Which of these Coaches would only be given a season to prove their stuff.
