2016-2017 Around The NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nobody has shared this yet, but, it's a great article about Westbrook's situation in OKC.

http://espn.go.com/blog/okc-thunder...on-forcing-westbrook-to-decide-okc-future-now

All the early reports said Westbrook's refusal to commit beyond next season was what forced KD's [and eventually Horford's] hand. The "making their pitch, trying to convince the Oklahoma City Thunder's cornerstone player to come back, if only for one more year" sounds like Westbrook was very much involved.

They also said Westbrook didn't bother calling KD.. but KD was the one that didn't?

Man, what scumbag moves.

How did they get better? I think their additions are hindrances to them on the court, and correct me if I'm wrong but Harkless has not re-signed yet. I'd rather have him than Crabbe or Turner.

They should remain average to slightly above average, but there's nothing they can do about that. They don't have a superstar in a league where you need a few to win.
I used to believe in harkless but his bandwagon is getting thin. 4 years in and his shooting still sucks. Most worrying is his abyssmal FT shooting. Its not getting better, and for a small forward, thats a big, big red flag that he will never be an acceptable shooter. Crabbe easily outplayed him last year. They made the right choice.

I don't agree that Crabbe outplayed him at all. Crabbe shot the ball better, but I think Harkless made more positive contributions.

Good on them though, they just re-signed Harkless. No choice necessary.

In 8 less minutes a game?

There's a reason my man's minutes have been on the steady decline since entering the league.

JR Smith holds the key to stopping Jae Crowder...... Break his leg....

Agree to disagree

It gets worse, KD told Russ three weeks before the former's decision to go to GSW that he was re-signing in OKC.

According to ESPN.com's Royce Young on ESPN's TrueHooppodcast (h/t NBC Sports' Dan Feldman), Oklahoma City Thunder point guard Russell Westbrook was under the impression Durant would return to the Thunder following a conversation they had prior to the four-time scoring champion's sit-downs with prospective employers:

"Three weeks ago, Kevin Durant's sitting there at dinner, telling him "Hey, I'm coming back, man. Don't worry about it." And now, Russell Westbrook has been kind of thrown into this in having to decide his future a summer earlier than expected.

Kevin Durant, more so than even that, was telling people, "Hey, yeah, I mean I'm coming back." Like I said in there, a week before Kevin Durant sat down in the Hamptons, he was in Oklahoma City ready to make an offer on a multi-million-dollar house. So, the guy was pretty serious about coming back, and then things turned rather quickly for him to leave. And there's no doubt that the organization felt a little bit burned by this."

Edit. Klay says he won't give up shots. In it for a rude awakening...

Yea okay.

So let's see......

There's 48 minutes in a game
24 seconds per shot clock
Steph handles the ball
Draymond handles the ball
Durant is used to taking 20+ shots a game

This is beautiful... See, I love this notion that Durant going there is gonna take the Warriors from like a 108 average to like a 130 average :chuckle:

Durant doesn't gain them more possessions via his presence...

So either you're getting a 28ppg Durant or one of your splash brothers (most likely not the 2x MVP who handles the ball more) will get less attempts...

Durant doesn't replace Barnes.... Klay replaces Barnes... Durant replaces Klay...

That's not gonna be a smooth ride.... (Opinion)

Totally agree, I think the Warriors with Durant will not be as good as the 2015-2016 Warriors, that team had perfect balance/chemistry from bench to starters, I have watched enough KD & NBA in my life & I know, they'll have problems, problems they never had before.

Klays arrogance & inability to accept a lesser role may be their biggest problem - "I Ain't sacrificing shit, because my game isn't changing", lol hes due for a rude awakening.

I would love to see how he gracefully goes from the second option/first option, to the 3rd option sometimes not an option role, There will be games where Klays role will be reduced to the 3/D floor spacer role, basically stand in corner & play defense, I would love to see him smiling & having fun like hes used to when he goes from being a star to barley getting any touches.

Its 3 months before the season even starts and Klay already marking his territory lol, dissension amongst the ranks has already started and we haven't played a single game yet.

I think the Warrior players will ultimately really regret recruiting KD after this season, call it a gut feeling, call it being a homer who's rooting for your rival to fail, but I really think they'll won't be as good as they were last year.

Picking Russ in the top 3 in fantasy leagues is pretty much a must now.
