2016-2017 Around The NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I love how they pretend living in New York is anything but a clusterfuck of hell

Would live in Cleveland over NYC any day of the week
Totally agree - NYC is not for me - at all.

Fun place to visit, sure. But living there? Nah.

Were you working out there?

I found the adjustment, moving out to the coasts, to be rather abrupt and disjointing..

Living in Florida; the price structure of things and the amount of discretionary income you'd have is not all that different from Cleveland - even though the living conditions for a single man or a guy and a girl with no kids are .. pretty great.. ;)

But living in New York, LA or Hawaii... it takes a completely different mindset. You're now paying ~$2,000 in rent to live comfortably, and gas/energy expenses are twice as high... For some reason food is more expensive... which is odd.

But with that comes a lot of other advantages.

I really never like downtalking home, and Cleveland is where I grew up. But if I'm being completely honest with you guys, well.. I don't need to finish that sentence.. You guys get it, I'm sure.

I live in California now and the rent and stuff hasn't changed actually. So same price as NYC. It's much more livable IMO. I still wish I had more money and could buy a house, but it's not like new York where life would be really different if you had a large discretionary income.

I'd say I'm lower middle class here, but in Cleveland is be ballin. Cleveland is as nice as ever to live in.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

But I absolutely hate New York City. Whenever I get contacted by a recruiter and they ask me about locations I tell them if the companies in NYC to just forget it. Don't even care what the salary is. Would never live there.

Richmond is actually my favorite place to live of everywhere I've been so far

It's just too busy for me. Even with a hearty salary I think I'd be pretty miserable in NYC.
My mom may be moving to Richmond, VA sooner than later. Glad to hear you like it there. If I ever visit I'll hit you up for sure!

LONDON -- NBA commissioner Adam Silver says the league has its eye on speeding up the end of games, with a focus on retaining younger fans who "have increasingly short attention spans."

Silver, speaking Thursday before the Denver Nuggets' 140-112 rout of the Indiana Pacers at London's O2 Arena, said the NBA started studying the issue last year -- specifically, the number of timeouts that are allowed in the final two minutes -- and will review it again at the end of this season.

"It's something that I know all of sports are looking at right now, and that is the format of the game and the length of time it takes to play the game," Silver said. "Obviously people, particularly millennials, have increasingly short attention spans, so it's something as a business we need to pay attention to."

Don't know whether to laugh or feel insulted.. :celb (13):

I really think Richmond is one of the best kept secrets. It gets overshadowed by DC being 1.5 hours away so a lot of people forget it's a capital city with the nations capital right there

But I absolutely love it. Has a lot of the big city perks with next to no traffic. Houses are extremely affordable (I think it's comparable to Cleveland), great weather, right on the James River, there's a festival every week in the summer ranging from a beer and BBQ festival that shuts down several streets to a watermelon festival. The Virginia meusem of fine arts, belle isle. 12 breweries and 2 cideries. Somehow all of them are really popular. Some unreasonably good food here from all cultures and some beautiful historical neighborhoods (monument avenue is so pretty it almost makes me want to do cardio lol)

Seriously awesome city. And definitely let me know if you're ever here man, would love to grab a beer!

Edit: this is in the around the NBA thread lmao. Sorry for the tourists guide to richmond everyone

Dunleavy playing in crunch time for the Hawks, made a 3 to cut the lead to 2 with 2:11 to play. Where the hell was he at the whole season for us?

Edit: and he gives up 5 quick points on the other end due to his sloth-like defense.

Sounds like something might be going down in Portland.

Ezeli giving hugs to guys while leaving the lockerroom and their fans don't know why Mo Harkless didn't play tonight and aren't buying the "calf strain" injury.

Hmm.

Probably nothing concerning Cavs. But interesting indeed. They're both serviceable players for a damn sure. I'd take a Ezeli.

You don't boo a guy like that," Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas said after scoring 28 points. "You're not turning down money like that. None of them people that are booing are turning down that money, so he went to a situation he thought may be a little better."Like I said, a guy like that, with that type of character, you can't boo him. That's disrespectful."

A quote to sum up the arrogance of Boston sports: a Boston player telling other cities fans how they should root.

Back to the New York City thing, this is one of my favorite illustrations of all time.

Works when talking about the American News Media, including the Sports media, but I think it probably hits home with a lot of non-media New Yorkers as well.

Hawks signing Gary Neal to a 10-day contract.

Cavs should keep a very, very very close eye on him , hopefully he gets some playing time.

Definitely a legitimate guy to maybe get for the minimum for that PG spot. I know he's more of a shooter than playmaker but still. He was solid on both ends for Pop before he got hurt!

Rodney Hood just went down, screaming in pain, holding his knee.

The Jazz just can't stay healthy man.
