I agree with you, and I'm not attacking you because a ton of people do this, and it's something that is bugging me. "Net rating" stats are not "advanced metrics." They are counting stats. If a 12 year old could do the math, it is not an advanced metric. Neither is DFG% for the same reason.

Advanced metrics are any metric where you need to train a computer software to notice trends, as is the case with Synergy and SportVU data. Or, on the other hand, any stats where you need to run a statistical regression. Anything else is not advanced, rather, it's just a stat.

But yeah, Jokic is an awful defensive player. It's painful to watch.

Thanks for clarifying For what it's worth though, I think Jokic is just a solid defense away from being the best big man in the game. I don't think that even Embiid is as good of an offensive player as him. Jokic has a ridiculous offensive IQ.

I entirely agree. It doesn't even need to be solid defense. If he could be okay enough where the Nuggets could hide him within a team defense then Jokic will be the best big in the NBA.
