2016-2017 Around The NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree with you, and I'm not attacking you because a ton of people do this, and it's something that is bugging me. "Net rating" stats are not "advanced metrics." They are counting stats. If a 12 year old could do the math, it is not an advanced metric. Neither is DFG% for the same reason.

Advanced metrics are any metric where you need to train a computer software to notice trends, as is the case with Synergy and SportVU data. Or, on the other hand, any stats where you need to run a statistical regression. Anything else is not advanced, rather, it's just a stat.

But yeah, Jokic is an awful defensive player. It's painful to watch.

Thanks for clarifying ;) For what it's worth though, I think Jokic is just a solid defense away from being the best big man in the game. I don't think that even Embiid is as good of an offensive player as him. Jokic has a ridiculous offensive IQ.

I entirely agree. It doesn't even need to be solid defense. If he could be okay enough where the Nuggets could hide him within a team defense then Jokic will be the best big in the NBA.

LeBron coming back really eases the pain of passing on two superstars. We would be so fucked if LeBron wasn't from nearby.

Well Mo got shipped to Denver and then waived. That'll probably do it on a career for a player I always liked and probably overachieved.

When was the last time the Warriors had a significant injury to one of their players...(don't say Stephanie being out for a portion of the playoffs last year).

Holy fuck, Jimmy Butler is quietly averaging a 25/7/5 on 45/35/87 splits this season.

That is just insanely good, we were all creaming our pants over Paul George last year (23/7/4 on 42/37/86) and Butler's somehow been even better.

If Boston would stop overvaluing their assets for a second, they should trade those Nets picks for him. That is if the Bulls are still shopping him.

Hes also quietly becoming one of the most clutch players in the NBA. It's why Dwyane Wade trying for the game-winning shot last night was frustrating to a lot of Bulls fans.
