2016 Buckeyes Football

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Based on Greg Studrawa's salary and relationship with Meyer, it'd seem Warriner is the odd man out.

Which is frustrating considering our O-line took a large step back under his tutelage this year. Blame it on working in all the new guys on the line if you want but Warriner inherited the same problem the year we won the championship.

I am most concerned with the fact that we regressed throughout the year whereas we continued to get better with Warriner overseeing our O-line the 14-15 season.

I hope it doesn't simply boil down to salary b/c Warriner has proven his worth as far as O-line development goes, especially after the performance we just saw.

Maybe my assumption in regards to Warriner is wrong....

Cleveland.com reporting Warriner is staying with staff although his role remains unclear. Maybe Meyer goes 6 offensive coaches and 4 defensive?

DL - Larry Johnson
LB - Billy Davis
DB - Kerry Coombs
DC - Schiano

OL - Studrawa
WR - Zach Smith
RB - Tony Alford
QB - Ryan Day
OC - Kevin Wilson

General offense - Ed Warriner

I believe Warriner is also one of our better recruiters so despite some of his shortcomings, i'd hate to see him go somewhere else. This is best for us moving forward, if true.

Warriner is actually one of the weaker recruiters on staff. That title goes to Zach Smith and Kerry Coombs.

LJ and Tony Alford have been instrumental as well in specific situations.

Tim Beck was very good, but Ryan Day is supposed to be a dynamic guy. He just doesn't have a ton of experience at a big-time school to rate his recruiting capabilities.

Warriner is known as a coaching tactician and great on fundamentals. Supposedly a great guy, just not very dynamic on the trail. Recruits based on his reputation for putting players in the league.

I like the idea of Ed being able to spend time where it's needed on the offensive side of the ball. I'd like him back on the sidelines during games as well. Wilson and Day in the booth.

I'm guessing Warriner will be moving back to coach OL and Studrawa will be assisting Warriner and also coaching the TE's, or vice-versa.

Keeping Warriner on to coach the OL again would be fantastic.

Really liking how this staff is shaping up. Very good news and exciting for the future.

FWIW, The same guy who broke the Kevin Wilson news on Hineygate just said Warriner is not staying on staff despite reports he is. Hope he is wrong...

My body is ready. I want to love these hires. Guide me.
How closely do you follow the Big Ten/College Football?

If you follow it somewhat closely you should know Kevin Wilson did great things at Indiana, especially on offense. This guy took over a shithole of a program and turned them into a very respectable bowl team. Their offense was consistently among the best in the B1G. Also, for several years now they've been competitive year in and year out with the best teams in the B1G, obviously including Ohio State. Keep in mind, he did these things at...Indiana. Before taking that job he was OC at Oklahoma for several years. Maybe @bob2the2nd can share his thoughts as well given that he's an OU fan. Wilson has a great offensive mind...the system he ran at Indiana will mesh nicely with what Urban wants to do.

This hire is an absolute home run as far as I'm concerned and I'm not sure how any other conclusion could be reached. I'm excited as fuck.

Well there is the accusations of abuse from players. I didn't follow it closely enough to render my own verdict, but it's at least a little troubling.

From from a football perspective, I agree 100%.

Very good point. Given that he'll be an Assistant now I don't see that being an issue here. Urban is giving him a golden opportunity, I expect he'll take advantage of it and learn from his mistakes.

Kevin Wilson, if I remember the story correctly, was one of the guys Urban Meyer sought advice from when constructing his own offense way back at the beginning of his head coaching career.

I'm not sure there are many more people who know how to get the most out of their talent than Kevin Wilson.

Ryan Day turned Andre Williams into a Heisman finalist as well.

I'm not sure I've ever been this excited about a hire, even moreso than Tom Herman.

You are correct. Wilson is one of the progenitors of the modern day power spread. He was Randy Walker's OC at Northwestern and Urban heavily studied their offense along with Purdue, Louisville and a couple other programs while he was at BG.
