Essentially if we and another team put up about the same offer then he will resign in Cleveland, but if someone else offers up a fair amount more he will sign elsewhere. Let’s see how the bidding goes for Santana!

    So basically he’s gone.

I'd be more concerned with the amount of years another team may offer than per year. Think we can compete with anyone at 3 years or less but not sure at any 4-5 year offers.

I could definitely see Carlos taking slightly less to stay here, as long as it's close.

It just worries me that we are hearing about all of this interest in Carlos, and not hearing as much about the other high end FA's. Although there's a good chance that it's just a product of Santana's agent doing a better job at drumming up competition through the media.

I actually wouldn’t write him off being back, the Indians will put up a good offer, the question is how much is a team going to overpay to get him? Cleveland will give him 15mil or so a season to be back with about 3 years or so. If we don’t keep Santana it will be because others offered a lot more money per season/more years

"Tendrán que arrancarme la camiseta de la espalda," said Santana.

If we're thinking about giving Santana a significant contract (as we should) I would certainly hope he has interest from other teams. I'd expect Carlos' agent to gather offers and then go back to the Indians and see how close they can get to the top one. Then it's ultimately up to Carlos.

I'm not paying top-of-the-market prices for anyone, especially a corner. That's not how a mid-market team wins. I wish him well, bit the DPOY award really sealed the deal.

@BimboColesHair who do you feel we need to protect on the 40 man roster?

I am looking at RHP Merryweather, SS Chang, maybe LHP Kaminsky added to the 40 man? Guys like Josh Martin, Stamets, Shaffer we could lose if a team is desperate enough, but I really doubt it.

I’d be very surprised if a team would try to grab him at his age and the fact he hasn’t played above high A ball! He’s a few years away.

Him and Chang. Maybe a couple of pitchers, although none on that list are jumping out as names I personally recall being impressed by at any point this year.

Anybody ready to talk themselves into losing Santana and Bruce and how the offensive production won't drop off? Brantley and Kipnis could be trending downwards as players for all we know. As much shit Santana took, we'll miss the hell out of him. I really don't wanna lose him knowing we have a shot at a World Series with him.
