2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I think people are getting too overwhelmed with these reports. I feel like I'm in the NBA section or on NBA twitter where one report of trade interest = a week's worth of speculation and non-stop hammering away at the trade machine.

To me, Santana's agent is simply doing what he's supposed to do. Drumming up interest quickly in part through the media and setting the market now, rather than later (this is important, just ask Edwin). You don't think that teams like the Red Sox haven't had similar conversations with Hosmer's reps? Also, I put the odds at <1% that Santana would take an offer without giving the Indians a chance to match it or come close to it. It's been talked about, but I do think he'd be willing to take a little less to stay here.

I'm not getting worried until I hear actual figures being reported on an actual offer - which as far as we know, hasn't even occurred yet.

And although I may cry myself to sleep knowing picking up Brantley's option could have cost the Indians Santana coming back, there are plenty of cheaper options that can at least come close to filling the void left offensively.

Kluber got 28 of 30 first place votes. 2 idiots voted for Sale.

Shockingly, one was from the Boston Herald.
Shockingly, the other was a White Sox radio analyst.

The latter had Kimbrel as third, and didn't have Severino or Carrasco in their top 5.

BBWA always hilarious.

Also, Carrasco came in 4th. He received one 3rd place vote, and the most 4th place votes with 16.

Which pitcher had the higher WAR?

Healy hit 25 HRs with a .271 AVG and will be just 26 years old during next season. Interesting trade.

Campos was the Mariners #15 prospect.

Also, Healy was so bad defensively at 3B that Oakland moved him to 1B. Who knows, this could mean Santana is less of a priority now for Seattle.

Also, their 1B FA Yonder Alonso now is probably a lock to be on a new team. Mariners I'm sure are going to want to give Dan Vogelbach another shot and could platoon him with Healy. That could also affect the 1B market a small amount.

Just a personal hunch...

But I wouldn't be surprised to see the Indians kick the tires on Bautista. Incentive heavy deal to him wouldn't be the worst move they could make.

Eww, ughh, man, that's fucking circumstances I want no part of.

Santana, Bruce, Brantley OF, Kipnis OF, > Bautista OF

Signing him does not mean we lose any of these players...dude is not going to be getting paid much this year, might even have to take a minor league deal.

Talking about adding him to them, on a cheap incentive based deal.

I'm just saying that's a terrible consolation prize to losing Santana and Bruce. 37 years young, his last great year was 2015, I really hope Indians don't let Santana go. Boston would be getting better and making us worse, it's all their plan right now, and it's a pretty damn smart one.

Irrelevant to baseball, but does Jose Bautista's own mother like Jose Bautista?

Valid question.

Who said we are losing Santana and Bruce? Where did I say I want Bautista as a "consolation prize"?

Are you already going into typical Real Deal off season meltdown mode?

Pennant winning moves?

I fucking hate the man, but as the glass shoulder God himself Aaron Rodgers once said..."Relax".

Also...pretty funny to see people freaking out about Santana potentially leaving who couldn't wait to see him go 6 months ago...

It's all hypothetical to latest reports, bro. Don't go nuclear over someone posting. You're annoying with that shit.

All I'm saying is you're throwing out a bum's name, and I'm reacting to possible players departing while signing that bum.

You're annoying with this shit, and you're track record with this shit is...well, its not good. Tit for tat.

And I'm throwing out tossing a guy a small deal with incentives...I wasn't the one who mentioned Santana or Bruce...that was you.

Maybe you missed Heyman's word that Boston is heavily involved with Santana's reps, thats worrisome.
