2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Almonte's projected arbitration from MLB Trade Rumor's model was $1.1m.

As frustrating as Almonte can be at times, a switch-hitting OF that you can move around for that amount is pretty good value.

All these teams being turned down by Ohtani, and none of them are the Indians...yet...

I've yet to see anything that suggests he's headed anywhere other than a West Coast team. Seattle, SF, Angels most likely

Padres, most likely.

But the Indians, who did make a pitch to him, have yet to be turned down...at least publicly. And a whole mess of teams were turned down an hour ago, publicly.

From everything I have read he wants to play for a small market team on the West Coast if possible. The Indians aren’t out of it since they are a good team in a small market. The question now depends on who has the largest international pool between the teams who are left? Do you know who has the best pool left available of the West Coasts teams?

Pool doesn't matter.

Guy is already giving up 200 million+ by coming over now, as opposed to a few years from now.

Couple hundred K isn't going to make or break anything here. Pool money doesn't matter...why a team like the Indians, with 100K left in theirs, still made a pitch to him...because it isn't about money with this dude, which makes him like a unicorn with regards to the modern posting system seen from Asian players in the past.

The Tribe doesn't have a spot for him. The rotation is full (Kluber, Carrasco, Bauer, Clevinger, Salazar) and once Santana resigns there will not even be a DH spot open for him on his off days. Maybe if he was interested in being a setup man (replacing Shaw) and being a super utility guy it might work.

Indians don't have a snowballs chance in hell to land him in the first place.

But they would open a spot for Ohtani, if they managed to land him somehow. Clevinger, Salazar, Tomlin...those guys wouldn't stand in his way. Already Salazar trade chatter anyways.

Salazar isn’t a sure bet guy since he cannot stay healthy. Ohtani may get a few starts at AAA anyways to get him adjusted to the American game since there is some slight differences.

I may be the only one, but I wanna see Salazar in the pen and see if he can be a weapon that way while keeping him under the 100 innings mark. I think with his stuff he could really be a setup/closer. I get why he should be starting, but he has never finished a season without a DL stint. I wonder if it’s the innings mark or just his arm itself that’s the issue

Maybe Ohtani has a huge man crush on Terry Francona and wants to play for him.....

Love Ohtani telling the Yankees and Red Sox "Thanks, but no thanks". Their fans are so pissed about it.

Hopefully he and Stanton make their decisions soon so we can get on with free agency all ready.

He supposedly has 7 teams left, Cubs, Dodgers, Giants, Mariners, Rangers, Padres!!!, and Angels.
