2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
MLB needs to investigate Jeter. Plays with the Bronx for twenty years. Gets a stake in ownership and sends one of the best pure power hitters of the past 25 years to the Yankees for table scraps.

What?

The deal was always going to be for scraps. It's an awful contract.

Curious if the Marlins will deal Yelich and Ozuna too, would certainly be interested in both.

At least free agency can finally begin now that Stanton and Ohtani have found their destinations.

I know a lot of us don't want to say it but if they get Stanton they are the team to beat for the next 5-6 years.

Yea the party is over. We couldnt beat them before this. Fuck.

It’s a bad contract when he was going to be stuck in the NL into his mid-late 30s.

He’ll be able to DH which should help his injury issues. He’ll probably average 58 homers per season over the next five years in that joke ballpark in the Bronx. That kind of power with Judge, Sanchez, Bird, and Frazier? Hot damn.

That Is a complete crock of shit. This is a bad look for the mlb.

Jeter is still the Yankees MVP.

And we don't know the details yet, but I assume the Marlins will be eating a decent chunk of the salary. Even if the Yankees are taking on the full contract, they're the 1 team in the league that can do it.

Stanton is incredible but this really doesn't put much of a damper on my expectations for the Indians and their chances next year. It's baseball, the best roster doesn't always win. Next offseason when they sign one of Harper/Machado and add another ace to their rotation will suck though.

Boy. Hopefully their bats go ice cold and their ace forgets how to throw come playoff time.

Next offseason when they sign one of Harper/Machado and add another ace to their rotation.
Who is "they" ?

This deal still keeps them under the luxury tax. That was their goal. They'll still be in play for Harper. More than in play for Machado. Shits about to get ugly for everybody else.

As far as the Yankees go, their lineup is very scary. They're gonna hit a million home runs and strike out a bunch.

If I were a fan, I'd be a bit worried about the rotation.

-Severino is their ace, can he repeat his breakout year as the 3rd/4th best pitcher in the AL?
-Gray is solid, should be a safe 2/3 in the rotation.
-Tanaka is good, but his elbow seems like a ticking time bomb
-If they bring back CC, can he continue to be productive at 38?
-Can Montgomery provide more consistently this year than last?
-If they don't bring in a pitcher, what does Cessa or whoever else bring to the table?

Top pitchers available are Darvish and Arrieta, who are both very good but I'd be a little wary about giving $100m to.

Can you just imagine them adding Lindor in two years?

Has been fun watching baseball recently. So so close in 2016. Ugh. Astros got theirs. Now this talk about Harper/Machado – the Yankees are aiming to take the pleasure away…
