2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
That doesn't mean we are losing all of them. Also, the team has control of Chis/Brantley.
Not through 19. I simply think the window closes next year. I hope not but I'm not alone looking around online.

I can't see this window closing until Lindor and Jose is gone. Indians have a great system in place to keep adding youth, it's up to the bosses to keep this team 90+ win material.

Those two plus our top three starters are all here through 2020. Obviously we'll need a little help from players developing in the farm system, but there's no reason this team can't continue to be competitive for the next three seasons.

Not just our top 3...our entire rotation minus Tomlin, with Clevinger and Salazar still locked up. With a couple really good prospects knocking on the door around then too.

And Kipnis. And Encarnacion. Gomes, Perez, Zimmer, Guyer, Diaz, Naquin, Otero, Goody, Olson...like 3/4ths of this years team, including the 1-4 hitters, 5 good starters, the catcher tandem, starting CF, and 3 plus relievers.

It's also a poor choice to assume we re-sign no one, or add no one to fill in holes when guys walk. And I'd expect to add at least 3 or 4 names to that list of who is locked up through 2019 this winter as well, through re-signing, trade, or free agency.

Ridiculous to even begin to believe the window closes after 2018...especially if the main argument for that is losing 2 guys currently in the most volatile role in baseball, a guy we went to the World Series without, and Lonnie fucking Chisenhall.

Indians should maximize their talents and run a 6 man rotation to avoid nagging injuries. The Kluber injury excuse still has me pissed. Cookie should've pitched game 2 and game 5 if Kluber was really bothered.

Carlos Carrasco is 30 already. Where did the time go....

As the pitching goes, this team goes. I think this club could tape together enough cats to make a horse offensively and keep things going, what I remain concerned about is the ability to keep a dominant bullpen after Miller and Allen leave. They have failed to develop internal options, although Salazar could change all of that in an instant.

Kluber wasn't hurt...that came out today.

If you think they let both Miller and Allen walk, sure. I think they lock one of them up though, hopefully Allen.

And they had developing internal options ready to go in the upper levels for 2018/2019...they just so happened to trade them for Miller.

You want to see a small market team like this dumping 8 figures annually on a multiyear deal for a 34 year old reliever with a shit ton of miles on him in Miller?

Notice I said "hopefully Allen".

Think there is a snowball's chance in hell they re-sign Miller.

@Huber isn't wrong with the fact we are losing a ton of talent in 18 for the 19 season and likely will see a couple trades in 19 but our team will end up still a wild card contender with all the moves that will be made. If we address the bullpen with trading Kipnis in 19, we actually have a solid team still, but that may be the year we trade Kluber, Carrasco, Kipnis but the talent we have in the farm and the trades should replace them. Now it doesn't mean the talent is the same but in 20 they are contenders once again. This team is setup like the 90s team lol
