2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Stanton can be had for peanuts but Yelich would be too much? After this window, which should be closing in a year or two, the Indians will probably trade everybody that’s still around for a glut of prospects so they can have another window in 2023-2025 or whatever. Strike while the iron is hot.

Unless they’re asking for like your top 2 prospects or something absurd, I’d heavily consider it. Am I missing something? I know it isnt gonna happen just saying I wouldn’t mind giving up a couple good prospects for him...

Thoughts? Boobie? Bimbo?

There is zero reason to think the Indians aren’t built to compete for the next four years.

Yelich is under team control and doesn’t come with the mega contract Stanton signed. He should command more in a trade.

Don’t know if the Indians have the pieces they’d covet.

So you think the Indians can weather the loss of Allen/Miller on top of the guys we lost this year? Just seems the team will be getting weaker each year starting with this year. On paper, of course. A nice year from Alonso would go a long way to negating the loss of Santana though.

Rebuilding the bullpen will undoubtedly be challenging, but the lineup and rotation are in place for the foreseeable future.

@AZ_ @Chris

This is the future payroll.

Brantley, Tomlin, Allen, Chisenhall, Miller, McAllister are all free agents after 18.

I am not to worried about replacing Brantley and Chisenhall since we have guys like Allen and Diaz. Then Guyer is a free agent in 20. Majority of nucleus of the roster will be free agents in 2021.

in 19 we are all worried about the bullpen, but at the same time, its not like we dont have good young arms coming up. Also we have guys like Morimando, Plutko, etc that are starters that will be out of options probably so they could be options in the bullpen.

Part of me feels like we may trade Kipnis after the 18 season to try and get young arms to replace who we lost. I don't feel as good about our 18 team as i did the 17 team on paper, but it will depends on what Alonso does for us at 1st since he is replacing a guy who has been a solid producer for us.

Olney tweeted the Red Sox's offer for JD Martinez is in the 5 yr $100m range. Boras has probably broken all the furniture in his office if that's all the Red Sox are willing to offer. Bad news for Moustakas and some of his other guys too.

A Cavs rumor & Indians rumor drop at the same time. I’m shook.

where u @ browns ?

What body part are we willing to give up for Machado?

It’d only be for one season, but the idea of an infield comprised of Jose, Frankie Machado gives me a rager.

Pretty surprised that you would be on board with a move like this, but man it sounds exciting.

I agree with your list, but fear that it’s not realistic and we end up having to move one of those A list prospects.
