2017-18 Cleveland Indians Offseason

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Here's the thing.

Either this guy statman is trolling, in which case you should just put him on ignore until he inevitably gets banned.

Or...

He's being serious and in which case there's no point in arguing with him because he doesn't understand basic things and he's not willing or able to learn them.

This idea of you "setting the record straight" is just you taking this message board shit way too seriously.

If a guy makes bad posts, just put him on ignore, it's not worth all this up your own ass hand wringing about how the board needs to put this guy in his place.

We fundamentally disagree.

I've never put anyone on ignore, whether on here, or anywhere else. Why shut yourself off to things going on around you?

And, people have now spent more time responding to you, who's trying to put down anyone responding to statman, than anyone actually responding to statman.

It's a circle of discourse that needs to improve. I believe that comes with a focus on the truth, in every aspect of our lives.

Cheap ass Dolanz don't want to go all in and win right now. RIGHT NOW!!!

We lose Santana, Shaw, Smith, Bruce, and one JD Martinez.

I won't stand for this shit, cancelling my season tickets.

Nah But for real, I don't know if it's a good thing or bad thing that we are being overlooked now, you'd think the class of the AL is Houston, New York, Boston, Cleveland.

Damnit the Tribe signs Michael Martinez and the Red Sox got JD MARTINEZ... Wish they would have signed AZ instead..

And losing out on Eric Hosmer being the left handed throwing 3rd baseman I was coveting really grinds my gears...

I’m ready for Mike Moustakas

I think many would still have us over Boston. We waxed them in 2016 and they didn't look much better in 2017 against the Astros.

They also have a first time manager.

Not convinced JD is a piece that takes them from 1st round to World Series. Did they make any other notable moves this Summer I'm forgetting about?

Just re-signing Moreland and Nunez, as far as I can remember.

I still like our chances at Boston, but JD Martinez gives them the power bat they seriously lacked last year without Ortiz.

Forget all the noise, it comes down to this:

If Lindor, Ramirez, and Kluber perform in the Playoffs in 2018 like they are capable, I still think we're the team to beat.

Those are big if's.

But it's going to take more than those 3, Kipnis and Brantley need to freaking snap out of their bullshit, and that's what the Indians are banking on.

I don't really include Boston in there. Their last two postseasons have been pretty lackluster....

Then again, ours was pretty shitty last year too.

If we win it this year, it'll definitely be earned. NY and Houston are dynamite.

Agree they are important too. Just saying - the Indians-Yanks went 5 with the Tribe getting almost nothing from Kluber/Lindor/Ramirez.

I don't know the basic things? are you a clown? I'm not trolling one bit. I enjoy pointing out false perceptions regarding players who are grossly over rated and I demonstrate these ridiculous perceptions through stats. That's why my handle is the statman. And just LOL at people saying ERA is archaic. ERA is not the only important stat but it is the gold standard in defining a pitcher. ZMac had an ERA almost a full run lower than gas can BS last season. Yet Brian Shaw apologists continue to thump their chest.

Tribe's incredibly good staff has gotten even better with Shaw out of here.

I think the funniest part of this is that amongst this guy's peers he probably is the stat man and he probably genuinely believes he is bringing in depth and hard hitting analysis to the table. He has mastered quite literally two statistics and is now going on about how people don't truly understand ERA (which is just hilarious because ERA has to be one of the easiest stats to understand)

I actually find this all hilarious to the extent that I have laughed out loud at his posts

Yeah...how dare I actually use stats to verify my argument. Mercy me. I am bringing hard hitting analysis to the board here. Sorry that I have disrupted your preconceived views on who is good and who isn't.

Now tell me again how good Brian Shaw is.

LMAO @ ERA being the "gold standard" of measurement.

Not even fucking close
