2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Well because of how bad OKC has looked, there's a big drop off in playoff competition between the 3rd and 4th seed in the West. It'd be one thing if GS was going to have to play San Antonio or OKC either way. Not much of a difference.

But it's quite another to be able to avoid San Antonio and instead play, say Portland or Denver in the 2nd round. Particularly when Kawhi still hasn't played. So if GOlden State gets San ANtonio in the 2nd round while Houston gets Portland? That's massive.

And then there's the outside shot that Golden State somehow pulls OKC in the 1st round if they finish 7th (I don't think the will).

I think OKC will work it out and get top 6 in seeding. 7th and 8th spot will likely be Denver/Utah/Memphis type of team

West playoffs will be so awesome this year. GSW will have one hell of a ride to try and get back again but ya hard to pick anyone to beat them 4 outta 7

Even if the MRI comes back clean, that’s a very interesting development to watch this season.

It’s no secret Steph has bad ankles. He’s been very fortunate the last few years to be basically fully healthy. One bad sprain can derail an entire season with the right amount of bad luck.

Gimpy Curry = Cavs championship. I’ll stand by that statement.
Dilly Dilly!!!!

Eh, disagree. Davis wasn't playing so their real focus to shut down was Cousins. You'd allow Jrue to drop 34 on you anyday if it means Cousins isn't dominating the game. On a team with LeBron, Love, Thomas and Wade - for the price of Tristan, Shumpert and a pick that could fall within the top 10... Cousins would look incredible on this team. Hell, it would still allow Love to play his inside game because I'd probably trust Cousins more as a shooter than Crowder at this point.
He posted a -34. Jesus.

Wouldn't it be interesting if after a fluky streak of health and cheap production, his contract becomes an albatross? He does not have LeBron's body for life after 30.

Okay. And he was a +7 (NO's highest +/-) when they lost by 8 in October while Davis was a -5... Without Davis, you can literally double team Cousins every minute of the game he's in. Was -6 in the game they played a few weeks ago. The -34 is a HUGE outlier. That team is severely flawed and is at .500. Think about the mismatches he'd create on a team with reliable shooters, two fringe allstars and the best player to play the sport. Look at his skills, not games he's playing while on a team that is going to constantly fight for the 8th seed.

My reason for going with Cousins over Paul George is this - if by some chance the Warriors don't come out of the West, we're going to need rebounding much much more than we would be able to do with George at the 4. Look at our game against the Rockets from earlier in the season... Paul George will not help us get boards over Capella. Yes, having George to fend off Durant will be helpful but he only moves the needle slightly more against GSW than Cousins would and Demarcus would be better against all other 28 teams. Cousins is a better passer, rebounder, scores at a higher percentage and blocks more shots... George is a much better 3 point shooter, better at steals and has a better freethrow percentage.

I think this team needs a guy like Cousins (minus the pouting at times) with his intensity.

I hate to say it but Toronto looks good, their bench also playing really great

Booker got injured... this is bad for our pick. Shit, fuck, god damnit.

It is, but I was pretty certain they were going to revert to bottom 4 bad within another 20 games anyways, regardless of Bookers health. Even though it's still early, I think the Nets pick is destined to be slotted somewhere 5-8 prior to lottery night. Too many other bad teams and the Nets, while having less overall raw talent, have a solid coach who runs a system from that Pop/Bud tree. Who knows though.
