2017-2018 Around the NBA

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Donovan Mitchell is a star. His first step is something else man... Wow.

Gobert really fucks up the Jazz offense. Shows you that you just need spacing, especially in crunch time.

A chance Steph could be questionable to play us on Christmas Day depending on the re-evaluation in 2 week's.

Quote from NBA.com
"The Golden State Warriors received some good and bad news Tuesday regarding Stephen Curry's right ankle sprain.
An MRI revealed no structural damage and Curry will be re-evaluated in two weeks, the
team announced. However, there is "significant swelling" in the ankle, sources told The Vertical's Shams Charania.
The Warriors, who have won four straight and sit comfortably in second place behind the Houston Rockets in the Western Conference Standings, will likely act very conservatively with their prized sharpshooter, and keep him out until the new year."

The Warriors should continue to cruise without Curry in the short term, thanks to a relatively easy schedule leading up to a highly-anticipated Christmas Day clash with the Cleveland Cavaliers. They'll play several Western Conference bottom-feeders over the next two weeks, including the Los Angeles Lakers (twice), Memphis Grizzlies, and Dallas Mavericks."

Honestly I hope they rush him back to play against us.. because with that type of injury (especially given his history with these) I'd think that GS would be best served to take their sweet ass time getting him back. It's not as if they need him against 90% of the NBA anyway.

That is some miraculous shit right there. How the hell does it have significant swelling and no structural damage?

my guess would be they can image the entire joint until the swelling goes down but the parts they see are ok

I'd really like Joe Ingles on the Cavs. That dude has to be one of the best role players in the league. Great shooter, good defender/passer. Very smart. Does every single thing at an above average level.

I'm interested to see how the Warriors do w/o Curry while led by Durant.

I've maintained that Curry is the better player, albeit by the tiniest of margins. This gives us a little window into the debate.

It's not so much that Curry is a better player (I think that Durant is clearly a better all-around player), it's that he's the lynchpin of that offense because of his gravity behind the arc. Remove the most vital cog from a well-oiled machine and the system isn't going to function like it normally does.

They'll be much more prone to Durant iso's, which will simplify things for defenses and it will make Klay less effective.

Simply put, the Warriors need Curry to be "the Warriors".

I hope these nagging injuries leave them at far less than 100% going into the playoffs this year. We could use a break. :)

As for Joe Ingles, he had a great podcast with Zach Lowe (The Lowe Post Podcast) about a week ago. Check it out.

I just wonder if this is merely Golden State being cautious and resting their players. I just can't believe that they would be falling apart so early in the season. They've rested KD, Steph, Draymond several times so far this season and it just feels like they are conserving their energy because they know they will be able to get to playoffs.

Going to the Finals three years in a row may be taking a toll on some of them. Not everyone’s body is built to play into June every year.

you're right and that's the one thing that I think supports the idea of them actually breaking down but... I don't know, I just don't see it. I think it's more likely that they are just being conservative and knowing that they are the best team in the league. Sitting out games this early in the season isn't going to be a problem for them in 4 months. If they are still sitting guys by february I think there's something to talk about.

The only bad thing about Curry's injury is that when he comes back and we kick their asses on Christmas the world is gonna sob and cry about how Steph was "playing hurt". Boo fucking hoo.
