So if teams that had great regular seasons and advanced all the way to the conference finals aren't successful, only making the NBA finals is?

Was our 66-win 2008-09 season successful? Not really.

I don't agree with this. At the time, it was the best team in franchise history, and set a franchise record for wins in a regular season that won't be broken for a looooong time, if ever.

Disappointing postseason loss? Absolutely. Does that render the whole thing unsuccessful? Not in my eyes. Seems like a pretty lazy way to evaluate things.

This thread was funny as fuck when the darling Celtics couldn't lose.

Kyrie was the MVP, Tatum was the RoY, Stevens is the GOAT, Horford was DPoY, they were a walking championship ready to slay the beast that is LeBron James.

Now look at 'em. Injury prone Kyrie can't stay on the court.

Good trade.

Kyrie injured, that must mean the play offs are close!

Will give him more time to understand his why ?

The purpose of grape tomatoes in contrast to cherry tomatoes?

Where did Blockbuster video go wrong?

Did he really hit the shot? Or did Ehlo guide it in?

Why would they create candy cigarettes ?

Howmuchwoodcouldawoodchuckchuckifawoodchuckcouldsmokeablunt ?

Yellow starbursts ? Why ?

Is Wayne Newton wax ?

Maybe LeBron is my dad ?

Lmao. Kyrie is a phenomenal player, but he can't be counted on to stay healthy come playoff time. I remember there were questions about his health all last playoffs too. The trade wasn't so bad after all.

Celtics had no chance this year anyway. Think it's short sighted to call the trade based on this.

If Kyrie's health issues persist then yeah, we will have pulled off a good deal. If he stays healthy the rest of his career we are likely on the losing end.

That Philly trade looking even worse with the Lakers on the upswing. They now have to hope the Kings are all kinds of terrible next year, with a new lottery format:chuckle:

I wonder what happens to the Celtics when Hayward comes back at 80% of the player he once was and Kyrie’s knee turns into jello again by next February.

I don't celebrate injury and it sucks seeing a player who helped us win a championship continue to have injury problems. However, I can't help but see a little irony in Kyrie and Steph mocking Lebron's workout at Harrison Barnes' wedding and now both players are injured.

We all know Boston didn't have a chance this season. I'm just dying at these "2019 was our year anyway" excuses Celtics fans are telling themselves. It's gotta suck telling yourself the same thing every year. "there's always next year" "next year is our year".

It's fun having a title in the last 3 years

We had good chemistry but the lack of real talent outside of lebron was visible. Also, people forget that nba wasn’t as strong and competitive back then as compared to these days. Once Lebron and co. birthed the super team, things have gotten a lot tougher in terms of the amount of talent on a single team needed to be considered a contender. Also, current players from all 5 positions are much better overall athletes which suites the small ball style of play adopted by many teams these days.
