2017-2018 Predictions

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
And re-checked post-Mirotic-face-ruination Bulls W/L adjustment?!?

I took two wins from the Bulls and gave one each to the Nets and Hawks, lol. Lazy adjustment, but 24 seemed like too many wins for a team as fucked up as the Bulls atm, and I had to put those wins somewhere.

And now with Lin's knee?

Yea Boston, to me, is now out of the top 5. Behind Washington, Toronto, and MIlwaukee and at least one more team will finish ahead of them, I feel.

Bit too early for that right now, imo. Boston still has quite a bit of talent.

They are also missing Marcus Morris.

I think Washington is clearly ahead but after that I'm not so sure yet.

Bucks looks scary. I could see them as the 2 seed right now.

And now with Lin's knee?

I dunno. Even without that, their defense just looks so hopeless. Mozgov looks unplayably bad, and Booker's the only other frontcourt guy in their rotation. How're they ever gonna hold a team under 130 points? And then you factor in the Lin injury, and how little quality depth they have...this is definitely the best I've felt about that Brooklyn pick so far.

I'd definitely bump the Nets down a few wins if I were re-doing predictions; not sure where I'd put those wins. Not gonna keep re-doing predictions after the start of the season though.

This is horse shit @Nathan S we need constantly rebalanced projections out of you, ideally rebalanced twice a day but I guess we can settle for daily

@natedagg

So if I had to re-do my seedings, I'd drop Boston at least to 6th now. No way they're finishing higher than Washington, Milwaukee, or Toronto w/o Hayward. Think Detroit is probably better too.

OK, here are my sure to be incorrect Eastern Conference predictions:

1. Boston (55-27) - while I don't necessarily think they'll be the team that makes it through the playoffs, I do think they are going to hit the ground running in the regular season. I think the defensive issues are overblown, as their offense is going to be really good over an 82-game season

2. Washington (51-31) - with the Cavs working in so many new parts, the Wizards' continuity gives them a slight edge

3. Cleveland (48-34) - I think people forget that the Raps and Cavs actually had the same record last year. While I don't necessarily foresee as many "chill mode" games, I do think this year will contain more growing pains than people want to admit. There are a lot of new players being integrated, then they have to do it all over again when IT comes back. It won't be easy

4. Toronto (47-35) - I'm giving them this spot over Milwaukee by maybe a game or two

5. Milwaukee (45-37) - they won't catch Toronto, but they'll beat them in the playoffs

6. Detroit (42-40) - I... don't know

7. Miami (42-40) - again, who knows

8. Charlotte (39-43) - why not
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

9. Philadelphia (37-45) - this team is going to be a PROBLEM when Embiid plays. Problem is, I don't know if he'll play enough to make the playoffs

10. Atlanta (33-49) - at this point, I don't think any of these teams are actively trying to win. It's really, really bad

11. Orlando (32-50) - see Atlanta

12. Brooklyn (30-52) - ok, a little bit of a stretch. The Nets ARE trying to win, they just won't be good

13. Indiana (26-56) - see Atlanta

14. New York (24-58) - this is your disaster team, your "team turmoil" if you will

15. Chicago (17-65) - despite what we saw last night, they'll be the worst team in the league... easily

Hmm... put Washington in the 1, Toronto in the 2, Milwaukee in the 3 and Cleveland in the 4.

I'm going to do East now and I will do West later

1. Cavs: I actually think we will be pretty mediocre until Isaiah comes back. We ask way too much of LeBron on offense and really need that second elite offensive player to take some burden off. But Isaiah is actually one of the few people on the team that give a shit about the regular season And he has proven he can carry a team. This projection is highly Isaiah returning to form dependent

2. Washington- balanced team. Have played together for a while. Have high top end talent

3. Bucks- Giannis is the truth. He is a top 7 player in the NBA, and in today's East that quite easily gets you a top 4 seed by itself let alone the good young core they've surrounded him with. This Bucks team will be a fun one to watch

4. Nets- was a toss up for me with the Bucks. If Lin didn't go down I'd probably have them at 3. Young, prolific offense. They will have some slumps but their offense is good enough to shoot them up in a very weak East

5. Raptors- team that's played together for a while and has a very good regular season guard rotation

6. Celtics- Kyrie is damn lucky Tatum and Brown look like they can carry the team. I was really looking forward to Kyrie falling flat on his face and missing the playoffs, but the other young guys on Boston look like they can play

7. 76ers- anyone paying any attention to my posts knows that I hate this team, but as long as Embiid can give them even 55 games they will beat out all of the other shit after the 5th seed in the East. Surprised the guy who hates on this team more than anyone has them highest in this entire thread...

8. Charlotte- bobcatting on these hoes

Hmm... put Washington in the 1, Toronto in the 2, Milwaukee in the 3 and Cleveland in the 4.

Yeah, scratch that again. Boston is definitely the one seed.

Re reading this thread makes me feel better about being so down on Boston. And they really looked like they were in trouble early on.

Their offense is bottom 10 and they are 16-2. Jeez. I could see them hit a big rough patch at some point still.

1. Philadelphia will be a Top 5 seed in the East

2. Boston will severely underachieve, and will fall below CLE, WASH, MIL, TOR and PHIL (yes, I am bullish on Philly).

3. The Warriors will not be the 1 Seed in the West (and they don't care)

4. The Spurs will fall down the ladder, being a 7 or 8 seed.

5. Every Head Coach returned from last year. At least 2 will be canned during the season.

Damn, well done.

Wasn't sure if you were being facetious, so I had to check:

1. Philly was 3 seed

2. Wrong - Boston was pimpin

3. Warriors were 2 seed

4. Spurs were 7 seed

5. 3 coaches lost their job during the season: Jason Kidd (Bucks), Dave Fizdale (Grizz), Earl Watson (Suns). There were several others after the season ended.
