2017-2018 Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Nebraska is seemingly more athletic than in year's past. Short break between games, hopefully Holtmann can keep this train rolling.

CBS Sports has them at 5 in their newest bracketology. Split the difference and based off the 13th ranking I think 4 seed sounds about right. Regardless, amazing that 15 days ago (right before the MSU win at home) OSU was in that last 4 In/Out group, trending toward Out. Going from outside looking in to a 3-5 seed in two weeks is pretty fucking amazing.

Yeah, I was just hoping to be on the bubble this season.

Another good, hard fought win tonight. Thought this would be a tough one after Nebraska blasted Michigan the other day.

This OSU team has been a nice distraction from the dumpster fire that is the Cavs... who would’ve thought

I really like this team's balance. Holtman has been able to get the best out of these players, despite their physical and mental limitations. Both Wessons have exceeded my expectations. Andre looks to be our best defender on the team and Kaleb will be a stud the next few years. Kam Williams, who i thought was a bit of a headcase, looks like he finally bought in, even though he's getting less burn this year. For not having a true PG, both Dakich and Jackson seem to play with appropriate pace and have the shown ability to be damn crafty on the offensive end. I don't need to go into detail about KBD. What a difference he makes for us.

I am most happy for Jae'Sean Tate. Regardless of the guys around him, he's always played with infectious energy. It's just a shame it had been wasted on the likes of Lyle, Thompson, and Loving. Its refreshing to finally see guys match his intensity on the court because he's been the only bright light on this team the last few years.

It's a shame that Thad could never get this type of effort out of his guys the last three years night in and night out because he certainly was able to land guys with talent.

I have zero inside info, but I'd guess Thad's health really affected him.

He had a really nice run, Before the past 2 seasons, his "worst" at OSU was winning the NIT in 2008. Program had dipped during the end of Obrien's tenure and was on probation. He elevated and kept it relevant years, and seems to have left some talent behind him.

I figured it was health related and that's a shame. I know that he was pretty active physically in practices and it seems that was a pillar of his coaching style. You don't just go from one of the winningest coaches of all time to terribly underperforming for no reason. I thought the addition of Jent was going to help but it's apparent that not being able to coach the way you know pretty much demoralized Thad.

It's a shame because he was one of the most approachable guys on campus and was a genuinely nice guy. My friend was lucky enough to sit next to him on a plane ride and he talked basketball with him for most of the flight. I will always be appreciative of what he did for OSU and will never forget that OSU - Tennessee game during the 2007 run.

I don't have many contacts, but the ones I do have are college coaches. This is why I've been pressing hard for Thad Matta to retire for a few years. I knew his health was holding him back in a big way, everybody around the program knew it.

He was a great coach when he was 100%, and his contributions to the program will always be revered, but a change was exactly what was needed.

What a game tonight. Anyone else watch? OSU down big to PSU for much of it. Tied it at the end with a 3, only to lose on a near half court heave at the buzzer as time expired.

Still really appreciate the grit this team plays with. Getting far more enjoyment out of them than, well, you know.

Fuck no way that just happened

Tough loss. Incredible comeback, though. Gotta bounce back!

I was about 3 rows from the bucket last night. Game winner hit at the opposite end from my seats.

Defense was giving up points too easily. That said, Penn State shot went like 11/14 from three. They couldn’t miss.

Forgot how shitty the Schott is for college b-ball- just a lame environment.

Positive note was that I took home little hottie I met at the VC after the game.

He's not wrong. The Schott is a pretty sterile environment.

There is literally zero reason for both it and Nationwide Arena to be within less than five miles of each other. Would have been better served giving St. John Arena some TLC. Now there's a place with some charm and character.
