No they don't have the heart or mental toughness to do so.

It was like LeBron his first stint in cleveland. They need someone on the team that has the heart to win a series. They don't have anyone right now.

They have a bunch of players who press and feel too much pressure. Again that is why last year worked

Sorry moz sometimes the truth hurts
The fact that you're passing this off as the truth is just hilarious When all it is is an aaron goldhammer casual fan bonanza of moxie and glitter

We were the inferior team in the best of 5 series, that's for sure.

Agreed.

Think, given full strength/health for both teams, we win that series 12-13 times out of 20. I mean losing Edwin, a DH who doesn't have to run around in the field to a foot injury for two games is just completely random bad luck

As far as next year, I don't know what's really needed? A replacement for SantanaBruce?(does that come internally or externally) Do we let Santana walk and try to re-sign Bruce? Vice Versa?

But essentially, this team, if healthy has what it takes to win a World Series. Especially if second half Bauer is the new standard Bauer.

Having what it takes doesn't guarantee anything though, as key players still have to come through.

Not trying to overreact to Lindor or Jose, but am I wrong in thinking their approaches at the plate were different in the playoffs than the regular season? If so, hopefully that is something that is corrected by identifying it, admitting it, and committing to fix it.

Losing Santana would be significant, as much as some people don't want to admit that. Hopefully they keep him.

Good point on the AL Central. I asked earlier if the Indians winning 100 was a product of a weak division and nobody answered.

Indians went a combined 50-26 (.658) against the Central and 52-34 (.605) against everyone else.

They played like a 106 win team against the Central and a 98 win against everyone else not in the Central.

So it's not like they feasted on the bad teams only. They went a combined 13-5 against the Astros, Yankees and Red Sox.

But my feeling is that the Royals are almost certainly going to be significantly worse in 2018 so it's possible the Indians record gets even slightly better against it's own division.

The only place the Indians really sucked was Interleague play, going 4-12 against the NL West and 6-14 overall.

It's not worth going over his entire gamelog and finding stretches of a measly 5 bad games in a row, but all you have to do is quickly look as recently as 9/17-9/22 where Lindor went 2-19 with 5K against KC, LA, and SEA. The fact that he had 6RBI vs 4RBI with his post season GS is just situational. Was his approach different? Can't say for sure. The hot streak kind of erased the malaise that was the first half from my memory.

CC struck out 9 of the first 14 batters he saw, that's remarkable

Corey Kluber went 4-1 in the postseason last year and started 3 fucking times in the World Series but he can't be a World Series caliber player because aaron goldhammer told me he didn't have moxie or grit!!!

Seriously one of the dumbest things I've ever read on this board

The Indians were legitimately good. They just choked.

Hosey whiffed, Lindor's drive got caught, Miller served up a gopher ball, and it just went downhill from there.

And as @CBBI pointed out, we had more key injuries than we realized.

It could have turned out differently; it just didn't.

Kluber is really the last guy I am concerned about having "moxie" and "grit" I mean just look at the guy..

I don't even think he's a huge part of why we lost this series...

Something was wrong with him this year, either mentally, or physically, or both. It will come out soon.

See if you look at this year and say that Maybe Kluber just didn't have the heart of a champion and it showed in his 2 starts in the ALDS this year then obviously you listen to Goldhammer...

I love how every time someone makes a terrible claim they always walk it back and say things significantly less severe than what they originally said and try to build a straw man

You didn't preface it on this year. And even if you would have it's still a really dumb casual fan comment. It literally makes no sense

No - he WAS lights-out last year in the playoff.

What I'm saying is: we will find out about an injury, or depression, or drug or alcohol abuse, in the offseason.

Kluber has SHOWN that he has nads of steel. He wasn't all there, these last two starts. There was a reason.
