2017 Browns Mock Draft Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I agree. No need to trade up.

A very good prospect at a position of need will absolutely be there at pick 12.

I do think there's a decent chance that some team will want to trade-up to 12 to grab a certain player, and as long as we stay in the top 20 and get something good in return (like an additional second rounder), I'm fine with that. This is such a deep draft that we could restock add Garrett, restock our defensive backfield with a couple of starters and depth, and add the equivalent of a couple of starters elsewhere.

They had us passing on Adoree Jackson and Moreau to take Jones. Later they had us taking the Temple corner over the kid from Houston. Nate Hairston is a project.

That draft also had us drafting two LBs and two WRs, not going to lie but I hope we don't end up with two of each of those positions especially WR. I know no one agrees with me on this, but I personally I don't want a single WR in this draft, we spent four picks in last draft on that position. I want at least 4 picks in the secondary instead this season. To each our own when it comes to who we should get.

They have the Browns adding two edge rushers in Garrett and Phillips. It's a bit of an overkill to take Phillips that high, but it's more palatable than both Raekwon and Gedeon, which is an overkill at ILB. I'd happily swap out that Raekwon pick for a size cornerback, go with a tight end or strong safety prospect at 145. The Browns are going to play more physical press zone coverages, and under Williams there will be a variety of responsibilities for corners. Size and tackling ability will be important, as will zone awareness. Rasul Douglas ran slow at the combine, but he can tackle and has great anticipation in zone. I also like Quincy Wilson, Tankersley, Tabor, Shaquill Griffin and Damontae Kazee for zone coverages at different points in the draft.

Just keeping y'all informed. Especially those for whom such a development would constitute a massive shock (which seems to be nearly everyone).

Mitch Trubisky still a serious candidate for Browns at No. 1, sources say

It's Cabot writing that, so I'll disregard that since all she is so fixated on getting a QB, whether or not the team wants one. I am not all that worried since they will draft Garrett without any drama. Its the 12th pick that truly is the wild card.

I don't think this one has been posted. 7-rounder FOX SPORTS. Even with taking Trubisky at 12 (at least we didn't trade up :conf (11): ), this draft started off pretty damn strong:

1. Browns: Myles Garrett - DE - Texas A&M
It’s not going to be a quarterback. It’s not going to be Leonard Fournette. It’s not going to be Solomon Thomas. It’s going to be the best player in this draft, Garrett, and that’s the cut-and-dry of it.

12. Browns (from Eagles): Mitch Trubisky - QB - North Carolina
Hue Jackson can have it all — he wants a quarterback and he lands the hometown kid with the Browns’ second first-round pick. Things are looking up for the Browns.

33. Browns: Obi Melifonwu, S, UConn

52. Browns: Sidney Jones, CB, Washington

65. Browns: Raekwon McMillian, LB, Ohio State

108. Browns: Carroll Phillips, DE, Illinois

145. Browns: Nate Hairston, CB, Temple

175. Browns: James Conner, RB, Pittsburgh

181. Browns: Malachi Dupre, WR, LSU

185. Browns: Ben Gedeon, LB, Michigan

188. Browns: Isaiah Ford, WR, Virginia Tech

I am pretty surprised this did not include a TE drafted anywhere. The amount of draft worthy TE prospects (some elite) is pretty staggering. Way too many to pass up on, in my opinion. There are a couple mismatch nightmares available and i personally, would definitely draft one. If Howard is there at #12, it would be absurd to pass.

Just my .00002 cents.

There could be a few studs there at #12 when it all shakes down. What if Howard and Fournette are both there? Hooker? You never know......but Howard at #12 would be grade A, even with Gary B., who would undoubtedly teach the young rook all of the secrets of the universe.

Trading up for any of the QBs in this draft would be downright idiotic. Given the history of failure with QB's taken in the top 10 (not even just the Browns) they'd have a better chance of landing a franchise QB if they took one at 12 AND 33 vs using both those picks and maybe more to move up to draft one guy.

I agree to be honest, but we never know what they truly are planning. Maybe they are hoping a couple QBs go top ten to get their guy to fall? We won't know until Thursday what they really want to do.

I would be surprised if they move up to draft any of these QBs early. Honestly, I think a home run draft would be Garrett #1, OJ Howard #12, the best DB on the board at the top of the 2nd and with the other 2nd rounder: take BPA.

If we want to take a QB like Dobbs or Webb 3rd round or later, ok fine but don't use any of the 1st 4 picks with QBs. I like Trubisky and if we had to take one, I wouldn't lose my shit if they took him. Just prefer we don't because these guys I don't think are top line starters.
