2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'd throw that cash at Bell.

He's one of, if not the single best playmaker in the entire NFL. So many different ways to beat you.

I guess I should've clarified that I don't think Bell is simply asking for a lot. I think PIT is going to try and low ball him. They take a hard stance in player negotiations. This is also their first major deal since Rooney passed away. Maybe they will operate under the same guidelines as before or perhaps they maybe taking a harder stance.

What do you think a fair deal for Le'Veon Bell is? Whatever it is I'm not sure PIT is willing to meet it. They have him for next year and Ben has maybe two good years left. They could be willing to lose him after this season anyway. I would not overpay for Bell but I would give him a fair amount if PIT isn't willing to.

If Kizer looks like the answer at QB, I'd throw cash at Bell without question. You'd have $16 million already coming off our books by cutting Osweiler, and we have a plethora of cap space. Ohio guy, from the Columbus area--you never know. Might not mind being 2.5 hours from home.

Additionally, Bell's contract would be past most of the guaranteed money before you ever have to pay your young core from the '17 and '18 draft classes. Thus, he could be moved on from at that point given the shelf life of a RB.

We could focus our stable of draft picks on getting a #1 receiver and addressing the secondary. That would look like a very solid team in 2018 and beyond.

However, all of this depends on Kizer being the right guy. A lot of if's. Here's to hoping.

I do think Kizer is going to be our QB. But why would Bell come here anyhow? Just don't see it.

If he stays healthy this year, no way he doesn't go back to the Steelers. They will offer him stupid money.

Would still rather go after Freeman, honestly. Going to turn 26 next season, in his prime, not as great as Bell as an all-around RB, but still fucking great and can get even better. As I mentioned before, only has missed 1 game in his career. If Crow is gone (which I actually think Crow is going to do pretty good this year. His receiving out of the backfield got a lot better last season - doubled his receptions - but his rushing yards shouldn't be taken too crazy since 150 of them were against Pitt's ball boys. Most likely would have ended with ~850-70yds, which isn't bad) I push for Freeman and tell him, which he is desiring, you are the #1, no doubt.

But if we could somehow land Bell and he stays healthy this year and plays every game, wow.

But let's not get all Studio 34 right now and thinking we should be getting everyone and when we don't, it's all doom & gloom. We are still a team that is mainly building through the draft.

I would be just as happy to draft Barkley or Guice and spending the $$$ on secondary, WR, OT (how does Shon/Erving play out?)

I thought they only rested starters on the offense and not the defense? It was the only way our defense played kind of okay. But I thought the Browns went up against the Pitt starting defense which makes crows numbers a bit more impressive. I could also be wrong on this..

I could be wrong, too. I wasn't exactly sure who all sat out. I know their stars did.

But still. Same thing goes. If someone offers Crow more money than we value him, don't give it to him and see what it would take to acquire Bell/Freeman.

If not, set your draft up for Barkley/Guice/Chubb

My season tickets came in the mail yesterday. It was very fancy. I was impressed.
What's the giveway this year? A paper thin blanket or a travel mug that doesn't stay open?

I would prefer the Browns to draft and develop their skill positions since they can cost so much in free agency. I would take any of the guys you mentioned in your post regarding the draft. Still waiting to see their ability to draft impact skill position players.

Did they load the season ticket card with $25 per seat for concessions again?

I'm not sure. I know if I spend like $500 in the first 60 days or something I can win a trip to the Super Bowl.
