2017 Browns Off Season Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
More dysfunctional organization right now:

Browns or Cavs?

I've felt more confident in this current Browns regime than any of recent memory. I hadn't felt this good about the Browns since Mangini was hired and they fucked that up so there's still time to run this train into the ground. Haslem looks to have righted the ship. He's at least gotten out of his own way. Time will tell for DG but if the Cavs hadn't won a championship last year, I'd be pissed.

Haslem and Gilbert are a match made in hell though, that much is certain.

Is now, coming off an offseason that has been almost universally praised, the best time for dysfunctional Browns jokes?

Not one bit.

I actually think they're now less dysfunctional then our championship team.

There's stability here.

Not firing a regime after 1 season isn't exactly what I'd call stability. It is progress though.

And compared to essentially firing a regime 1 season after it won the title it looks damn stable.

Browns/Steelers playoff game was on NFL Network earlier today. Was so funny seeing guys like Kelly Holcomb, Dennis Northcut, etc. How in the fuck did that team make the playoffs?

Should have won that game too.

Northcutt drop will haunt me forever....

Honestly if we stay with this regime, I think we can be more stable than the Cavs. I feel we are a lot more unstable as an organization when we have LeBron here since we always seem to cater to him rather than just work on a franchise from the ground up.

If Haslem fired this regime after another under .500 season then we may as well stop watching the Browns until we get a new owner. I know we didn't have a good year last season in the numbers, but we also were the youngest team in the league and this offseason, the team vastly improved since we upgraded the trenches on both sides and could end up with a top 5 OLine and a vastly improved DLine with already a strong LB core.

On paper our weakest spot is the DBs and with a ton of cap space and likely 5 picks if not more between the first two rounds next season plus a ton of cap space, then we can fix it with what we have. Peppers is a wild card since he played LB, but is a good fit for this defense and Pryor may have been the steal of the offseason if he can reclaim what he was in college.

We also may have depth issues at WR, but we also have 10 guys in camp competing for 5 spots, so hopefully that makes the postions a lot better than we may think.

The average age of this roster may be 25 going into the offseason and on the final team may be 26, since most of the guys over 25 we are keeping. This is a young, young team and most of the team will be going into their primes in 2018. I think they will be a very scary team to face in the years to come.

With a rookie QB behind that line....

They aren't going to be able to scheme for a traditional offense. The good thing for them, though, is they have a wide array of very good skill players. Will Fuller, DeAndre Hopkins, Lamar Miller, Braxton Miller, CJ Fiedorowicz, Jaelen Strong, D'Onta Foreman, et al. is a solid group of unique guys who will be open for Watson. The Texans' front seven looks scary as well.
