2017 Cleveland Indians

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I am surpised no one chewed you out yet for saying send down Zimmer even for a few days let alone a couple weeks! :chuckle:

Honestly though he does need to figure out things, but it is hard to say which place he should do it at. With Chisenhall and Brantley both being hurt, Zimmer will be up regardless. I would hope guys like Brantley and Chisenhall can talk to him and help him get out of the issues he is having, but it is all a growing experience for the kid.

It is nice to see Bruce playing well for us as well since we needed some extra offense and so far has done a great job.

I've been a big Zimmer fan and supporter, but he needs to figure things out a bit.

Bruce has been solid as hell, providing a little cover for EE and even Santana. Those guys are seeing some pitches as you can't jus throw to Bruce with his power.

Let's get Brantley and Chizzy back and see if this offense can start to click too.

Man do the Dodgers look great, but this one good thing about baseball:

If it was Basketball or Football, we wouldnt stand a chance against the Dodgers, but if we make the series and the Dodgers do to, we probably have about a 40% chance of winning.

This team is starting to come together for sure.

Yes they do.

But one thing history has taught us- great pitching can best anything.

Yes but the Dodgers have that too, lol.

Kersha, best in majors this year, Wood and Maeda is a huge big 3 of starting pitching.

Jansen, Baez, Fields etc have been very good bullpen also.

Yeah, Dodgers are a scary problem, but Kershaw's back can tighten up any given time, especially in his 3rd start of the World Series vs the Indians!!!

I'm all for sending him down since the Bruce acquisition, and we need to get Lonnie some more time in CF. But when it's time, we need Zimmer on the bench come postseason, he's such a threat on the basepaths, problem is he can't get there right now, but somebody else can!!! His legs can definitely be a 1 run difference when it's all on the line.

So, yeah, send him down to get some easier ABs, work on his mechanics, gain some confidence, and come up for the stretch run.

I said this like a month ago if we got a guy like Bruce and everyone blasted me for it cause it was such a bad take everyone said and I think even you were blasting me for it!!!

And then a day after getting Bruce you said he is a fringe playoff roster guy.

Yeah since he is notoriously bad in the second half of the season as a hitter and is not good defensively plus we have a million guys who can hit from the left side on this roster for the OF. We currently are on paper going to have 6 OFs, which means 11 pitchers since we have to be able to keep a guy who can be an utility INF/back up for the guys playing in the INF. If Bruce came over and played poorly, then yeah he is off the roster since he doesn't help us in any way. Now that being said if he keeps playing like he is now, then yeah he is on the roster.

You also have to remember I do say different scenarios that could happen to this team. So I am not saying Bruce wouldn't make the playoff team, I am just saying he is not a lock because of his past history and he needs to prove he deserves to be on the team.

You say a lot of shit.

Zimmer is playing himself until a demotion, not because you say so. When you're approaching 0-30 or whatever something is terribly wrong.

Nobody would've guessed we'd get Bruce easy as we did. Now that it's a reality, plus Lonnie getting back, it's easier to demote Zimmer so he can retool his craft and gain confidence. Austin Jackson also supplies the loss of Zimmer easier.

Fact still remains, Zimmer is our best baserunner and defensive CF, that's enough to make a postseason roster even as a bench role.

You said Bruce, a guy that leads our team in HRs and RBIs won't even make the roster.

You said almost the same thing I did when we were talking about getting a Bruce that I said a month ago and you did trashed me for it! If I have to find the post I will lol :chuckle: Also I did say it at the time when he was hitting like .212 for the month of July which was like 2-3 weeks into July.

I never had the belief we'd grab a guy like Bruce. You've been on the Zimmer hate train all season. He does have valuables.

I am far from being a Zimmer hater, if you ever actually read my posts. If anything I am the person who likes Zimmer the most, but at the same time the most protective of him. I said right off the bat he has 5 tool potential, but he needs to show certain things to be ready for the pros (aka better contact and strikeout rates) and then I said if we get a Bruce he may need to go down and make some adjustments/get everyday ABs while being one of the main bench guys for the playoffs since we need his defensive skills and his speed.

People like to take what I say and turn it into what they think I mean. I mean what I say and don't take what I say out of context since you completely miss my meaning altogether then.

Am bored. Stats that should give Tribe fans a chub.

Indians have the best starters ERA in the AL in the 2nd half by a decent margin, all while their #2 starter, Carrasco, has sported a 5.03 ERA in that time period.

In the 5 games Jay Bruce has started, the Indians offense has slashed .247/.333/.483 and scored 5.4 runs a game...in that same time the Indians best hitter, Jose Ramirez, has hit .238/.304/.429 (.070, 0.58, .105 off his season averages). Points to even better things coming from the offense soon, including the returns of Brantley and Chisenhall, and hopefully some progression by Kipnis.

Indians lead the AL in total ERA in the 2nd half. Since Andrew Miller went on the DL, the Tribe bullpen has a 4.84 ERA in 22.1 IP, but are striking out batters at an insane 13.8/9 IP rate. Andrew Miller and his personal 13 K/9 IP rate are returning at the end of this week.

Since returning from the DL, Danny Salazar is averaging his fastest 4 seam fastball since 2015 (96.5 mph). If you are looking for a sign that he is healthy, that would be the first place to look, as velocity has been his indicator that something is wrong the last few seasons.

Carlos Santana is slashing .282/.393/.563 so far in the 2nd half, all while K'ing 6% more than he did in the 1st half. I would imagine his current 20.5% K% will dip down closer to his career 17% mark the rest of the way, which could lead to even better results considering his improved spray chart and hard hit ball% in the 2nd half. More balls he puts in play right now, the better.

The only thing--I don't believe Santana's K% will return to his career averages. He's swinging at pitches he never used to. His approach at the plate has changed.
