Some select quotes for those who don't want to read the whole thing:

On Friday, when a large portion of the Indians' roster was in Cleveland on the eve of Tribe Fest, Brantley spoke with reporters for the first time since the postseason. Brantley is currently hitting off a tee in his comeback from shoulder and biceps issues, and he is hopeful that he will be at the same stage as the rest of the Tribe's batters when position players report to Spring Training in roughly two weeks.

"I won't say a target," Brantley said. "All I know is I'm healthy right now and I've got a progression to go through. Once I get through that, I'll be ready to rock and roll."

A year ago, when Brantley was coming back from right shoulder surgery, the outfielder did not resume hitting off a tee until around Feb. 21.

During Friday's interview session, Indians shortstop Francisco Lindor said he could not wait to see Encarnacion "protecting Brantley in the lineup."

It seems like right now he is on pace to start the season with the team/maybe a short DL stint, but should be with the team in April sometime. As long as he doesnt have any setbacks that is his time table it seems. We just gotta make sure he doesn't rush at all. I would rather see him later in April and 100% healthy than at 90% on opening day.

It's hard to believe and have confidence that Brantley could return for good and put in a full, fully healthy season given al the starts and stops and setbacks last year.

But wow, if he does, this team will be even more ridiculous than it's set to be without him.

I actually do not believe he will have like an amazing year, and he will start off slow and his power will be down. I expect more of his 2012/2013 type of numbers, the .280 average with 6-10 HRs. His strength is the fact he is very good at making adjustments and I see more of contact hitting year with little power. Now that we do have an everyday DH situation, at the start of the season we will have whoever makes our 5th OF get some days out in LF and give Brantley more innings as the season goes along.

I feel like I've said this too many times.

The situations between what happened to him last year and what he is doing this year could not be any different.

No one has any idea how he will play, or react to playing, but this round of rehab is the exact opposite of what he did last winter/spring.

Seems like it has been so long, as I have forgotten what exactly was/is the issue with Brantley's shoulder/biceps? Also, how old is he - 26/27?

So, I know every human body is different, however, what is a typical prognosis/success rate for his specific injury? Any other players go through the same and then continue productive careers?

Thanks in advance for those more in the know.

He'll be 30 in May

So, with these types of injuries, would his age play a factor? I know it is impossible to really know specifically with an individual from afar and not being an MD. I am just curious what everyones thoughts are on success rate/outlook.

I say, plan as if he isn't there to contribute. If he shows up in May or June, it's like we just made a trade to upgrade the roster.

As far as I can tell, he had a setback last season, but his shoulder should be as healed as it possibly can from the surgery by now. I cannot tell you until I see him actually playing how well he will recover. His swing and stuff like that should be fine in due time. Bicep injury as long as it is fully healed and not chronic now should be fine. I have a chronic issue with mine, and I can still take swings all day without really all that many issues. It will be his ability to go overhand and throw that will likely be the last thing he will be able to do. He even may have to make adjustments on how he throws the ball depending on how he recovers since his injury was one caused by repeatedly throwing the baseball. What people need to watch is how well he is throwing the ball into the infield since his strength in the OF wasn't his range/fielding, but the fact he didn't make mistakes and he could throw you out. I wouldn't doubt his arm ends up like Johnny Damon's if he cannot fully recover since the injury will mostly effect his ability to throw/do overhand motions

Isn't the shoulder he hurt his non throwing shoulder. So I don't think how well he throws is the concern as far as I know

It was the right wasn't it? So it shouldn't have an effect he cannot come back from. I forget he is the natural lefty so he throws from left side which is a lot more uncommon in baseball than people know since many left handed batters are taught to bat from the left side since majority of pitchers are right handed. So this would only effect his subconscious range in the OF since he may fear of diving and whatnot. He should honestly be able to recover just fine since it was his right/non throwing shoulder. Now I don't know why the injury happened so hopefully it was a bit of freak thing and his left is just fine
