Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Diaz Optioned, Kipnis batting 6th

@BimboColesHair I told ya, Brantley is the 3 hole guy...

Michael Martinez lives on. Unfortunately.

So, what's everyone's opinion on Kipnis hitting in a unfamiliar spot, this is basically his spring training... maybe Tito wants to ease him back, or this is his primary spot.

I like it as of now. Helps the bottom out tremendously, provides speed to manufacture Kip a run if he gets on base.

Kipnis 6th and Chisenhall 7th is quite the luxury and not good for the opposition.

It is possible though that this is temporary untill he's settled in.

Also does, Kipnis shoot up to the 3 hole in the games that Brantley sits(Guyer has been hitting there in his absence)?

They probably want Diaz to keep playing. He'll get much more PT in the minors than here for right now.

Yep.

As far as Yandy goes, I think he's blocked from being an everyday player for us until 2020, unless we turn him into a full-time OF.

I'd love him to be our 3B, with Jose at 2B when Kipnis is done. But, I don't think we can wait that long. Here are the options:

  1. Use him as a trade asset.
  2. Bring him up as your utility guy
  3. Bring him up as an OF
  4. Keep him in the minors in case of a big-league injury
I honestly don't know what to do with him--but I think trading him after him showing the ability to be an everyday 3B makes the most sense. I really like our depth in LF/RF--it's just CF that has me worried.

Actually Zimmer and Allen are both plus CFs defensively, but Zimmer's size may end up moving him to a corner, we aren't sure. CF down the line will be one of our strengths projection wise. 1st base at the moment could be our weakest spot next season if we don't sign Santana, but long term for Bobby Bradley, I am not sure about it. It's going to be hard to say where to fit in Diaz

I don't believe either of them will be a CF for us this year. I'm well aware of our future with those two.

I think we will be find with who we have right now for CF to be sincere. I know we don't have the best ones in the world, but I haven't seen Jackson and Chisenhall making really any major issues out there in CF. I wouldn't call them all stars, but I have seen way worse as well. Zimmer may end up in CF if we call him up of Chisenhall experiment doesn't pan out. I think for now we should be alright, it doesn't scare me.

I gotta admit, I've been super surprised with how good Lonnie has looked in CF.

I still don't trust him. My gut says he HAS to start screwing up and looking inept out there in CF. He's a 3B turned corner OF with less than stellar range--and the idea of playing him in CF is just laughable. But, Tito's done it and he's legit looked good out there.

I still feel he's a stopgap. I don't think Naquin is an option, and I want to improve on Austin Jackson.

I agree in some ways and I am not opposed to making a deal, but that being said is there a CF, that's better than Chisenhall that's going to be available? Right now I am just not seeing one so we may be stuck with who we have.

Chisenhall though is one of the main guys on the team, so even if he is a stopgap, he will usually be playing everyday in CF or RF no matter what.

I mean, Lonnie doesn't play everyday... he only plays against RHP's.

But I don't see anyone available. I just think CF is, obviously, the weakest part of the team this year.

Majority of the starters are right handers, but yeah at the moment there isn't a deal we can make that makes sense for the organization right now. We shall see in due time with the minor league stint does for Naquin. Zimmer hasn't looked the best so far either.

Though can we upgrade from Martinez on the bench? Lol

You can hear a pin drop in today's attendance :chuckle:

27th early on, no wonder Cubs fans took this stadium by storm.
