2017 College Football Season/Playoff Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Yep. Just two of the worst INTs I have seen in a long time yesterday which led to a pick 6 and a short field TD. Take those away and it's a blowout and we are in.

Add to that the 7-10 missed vertical throws JT had that could have been touches for our playmakers. JT hasn't completed those throws for 3 years now, why are the coaches forcing the issue. We have superior weapons than teams like Wisconin, that can wins match ups not matter where you get them the ball on the field.

How the fuck does Iowa happen?

Just how?

The rankings basically say that Ohio State beat #6 Wisconsin in their final game of the season, while Alabama lost to #7 Auburn in their last game of the season. But that right now, Alabama is better than OSU.

At the end of the day that Iowa game is the reason OSU didn’t get in, and there is no excuse for losing to Iowa. OSU got screwed by the committee but it should have better controlled the committee’s ability to screw them.

My anger is not so much OSU getting left out but rather how ESPN, BCS/CFP and the SEC have had a track record of pulling this shit.

Remember how Oklahoma State got fucked over in 2011 out of playing for a national title? Among other things this so very typical of this system in CFB.

If I'd have seen "USC" or "UCF"'s name flash on screen? Completely understandable. I'd have shrugged my shoulders. But this 'Bama shit is so typical and pathetic. It's transparent what went on and the talking points that were hand delivered to the media.

Hey did you know that happened in 06? Yes, Gary Danielson went on television bitching about how Michigan should have not gotten a rematch against OSU and campaigned for UF.

It's typical political horseshit. My rule is simple. Either get back to the old, old way of doing things (pre-bowl alliance/bowl coaltion/bcs) or expand the damn thing to ensure conferences get autobids.

Enough with letting these jackass sports writers get payola'd like the hacks they are and we have to put up with this stupid shit.

The Big Ten should go back to 8 conference games and we should stop scheduling out of conference games against big-time programs.

Yup.

Not sure how we went from "little separation between 5 and 8", "resumes and who you beat matters", etc., to "unequivocally Alabama is better than Ohio State by the whole body of work", and "we want to find the 4 best teams, on the field".

No idea what to expect from the committee now...but I do know one thing. Keep OSUs AD far away from the CFP committee. I swear if Smith not getting a vote played a role in keeping us out, after him taking the Tatgate sanctions 1 year too late cost us a potential national championship...

Bama fans everywhere are kissing their underage girlfriends in celebration.

We need the computers back. Keep the playoff format (maybe expand) but for the love of god, take the comitee out of the equation. There are no standards AT ALL.

Needs to expand. 1 auto bid from each of the Power 5 and 3 at large bids. The system right now is just barely better than the BCS.

I really have no idea why he said "5-8 were close last week" when they obviously weren't.

And I would've been OK last week if he had said "5-7 are close, then there is a big gap". That's completely justifiable. But you said OSU and Bama were close, OSU beats a 12-0 at a neutral site, and now Bama is clearly better. That doesn't make any sense.
Yep...it makes no sense at all.

It's sad that a team can make the playoff in a season in which they accomplished absolutely nothing.

Just incredibly disappointing.

If Army beats Navy next weekend and moves into top 25 I'm gonna be kinda pissed too.....

Sucks an extra top 25 win wouldn't be included bc of when Army/Navy play their game.

I actually think it has to go further than that. Make each conference have the same number of teams. You can't give automatic bids to the Big 12 with 10 teams and the PAC 12 with 12 when the Big 10, SEC and ACC have 14.

Make a set number of in conference games and some sort of rotation of non-conference games. Power 5 teams shouldn't be playing Mercer or Youngstown State.

Last year I was fine with Ohio State getting in over Penn State because I thought they were a better team. Turns out I was wrong, but still, they looked like it at the time. This year, Alabama is a better team, so I have no problem with them getting in. As much as I would have liked the Buckeyes to get the opportunity, I wouldn't have looked forward to them being sodomized by Clemson again. Hopefully the players don't hang their heads and get humiliated by Southern Cal now. And they should have been trying to get Haskins playing time all season, which they didn't. Hopefully they at least give him some extensive work in bowl practice.
