2017 Draft Prospects Thread

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Seriously though, Mahomes' floor is probably 25. He's likely going to go much higher than people think, as has been obvious by the amount of visits and where those teams are in the first.

I'd say his floor is probably KC at 27, but otherwise I'm right there with you. He's a first round lock.

Who would be your choice for the Browns if they are taking a QB this year, even if it's not one of the top guys and just a developmental one?

12/trade back a few spots:
Pat Mahomes

33:
DeShaun Watson
Mitch Trubisky

65:
Josh Dobbs

It's fun being @AZ_ lol :chuckle: :alc:

Ps. I am bored in my college class, and wanted something to talk about it, I honestly meant nothing by it. I just don't see anyone who can play right away, but Dobbs would be my pick

I think it goes

1A. Garrappolo (now looking like a pipe dream)
1B. Mahomes - even if we have to use #12 on him.

All the rest of the guys are kind of grouped together below that IMO.

You are going to be hard-pressed to find anyone who puts Mahomes above Trubisky as an immediate contributor right now. There are some scouts out there saying Mahomes has the highest ceiling, but there's just as many saying he isn't in the top four ready to contribute this year. I see the talent, but like Paxton Lynch one year ago, I don't know if he is the right fit for right now.

Personally I like Trubisky more than Mahomes.

I understand the arm talent of Mahomes, but he is still such an incomplete tallent. I get Trubisky only started a year, but in that year he showed you everything you could ask for.

But I do like Mahommes, and i was fascinated with him when I thought he could be there at 33, but 12 is earlier than I would want to take Mahommes personally.

As for Watson, no thanks, and Dobbs at 65 would be a great risk/reward play imo.

Mahomes has started for more than a year and shown everything you could ever want in a QB.

With far less talent around him, mind you.

The best part about Mahomes is that you don't need him to be the complete package in other areas because his arm is so elite. It's not as though the other stuff isn't average or better more often than not.

At some level, talent wins out. Go teach him the rest of the finer points, but he's going to be somewhere between Matthew Stafford and Aaron Rodgers, I'll take that.

If you know Mahommes is somewhere between Stafford and Rodgers you take him first overall, because that is a top 5 QB.

I am always leary of the QB's that never take a ball under center, but more and more they are starting to work out, so maybe he will too, thus why I was intrigued.

And Trubisky vs Mahommes cant really be answered for a few years and you know that. To me its Trubisky 1 and Mahommes, 2 and neither is worth pick number 1.

I'm not trying to pester you, @AZ_ but you weren't saying this during the college season. Specifically, you voiced a lot of concern about Mahomes approaching plays like Johnny Manziel with improvisation as the norm rather than the exception. What has made you change your mind?

For me

12:
Trubisky
Mahomes

33:
Watson

65:
Kizer

108:
Dobbs

Not interested in anyone else, especially Webb.

Somewhere in this thread is my mea culpa of writing off Mahomes too early.

But it was somewhere toward the end of this season.

While he does have a Manziel mentality on certain plays, that works when you have his arm as opposed to Manziel's.

If Manziel were Mahomes size with his arm, I'd have thought alot more of him as a talent.

That's not to say he hasn't put out some bad tape, but the talent is clearly there and the natural talent can overshadow some of his other weaknesses. His arm is that good.

I agree there.

I hated Manziel from the beginning, but it was size, lack of arm strength and mentality I hated.

This is not anything to do with Mahommes. Mentality is off the field bullshit, he doesnt seem to have it, arm strength cant be denied, and he Mahommes has the right size.

I dont like Mahommes mechanics and he has to completely relearn how to play. I like Mahommes, just like Trubisky better.

I really don't think they need to or can alter his throwing motion that much. Maybe some minor tweaks, but it has to be hard to relearn how to throw, after doing it the same way his whole football career. I think it's mainly footwork that needs to be redone and b00bs showed in the Kessler clips that hue is able to get through to qbs about it.

Mahomes has the size and arm strength that hue likes. In some of the videos I've seen, he seems to be able to anticipate where receivers are going and throwing it in the right spot. It's also a problem since he trusts his arm too much and thinks he can squeeze any throw into any window.

He has the starts, the stats, the size, the arm talent and doesn't seem to have any on field or off the field issues. He's definitely a qb I think is worth developing. It all depends on if hue has the patience and time to develop him properly.
